Competition Details
Proposed Competition Format
Hours of Competition: 8.30am - 5.30pm (There may be one night game per day scheduled)
Competition will commence on Saturday 5 October 2002 with a full round of games, to enable Games participants to attend the Games Opening Ceremony in Melbourne on Sunday 6 October. Games on Sunday 6 October will be restricted to one round on all diamonds in the morning.
Finals will be completed on Saturday 12 October. The Games Closing Celebration will be held in Melbourne on Sunday 13 October.
The program will be scheduled over eight days and, depending on team entries, 5 diamonds will be utilised with a total of 15 games per day. Each game will consist of 7 innings or will be of 2 hours duration. Finals will last for 9 innings regardless of duration.
The competition will be run in pools of six teams per age group providing a minimum of 5 games plus finals. There may be more that one pool per age group.
Scoring
Games will be played under the normal rules of baseball except for some modifications applicable to Masters play. Final placement will be based on the number of Games won and, if necessary, a count back, head to head. If no clear advantage emerges then finals placements will be decided by percentage (runs divided by the total runs for and against). If teams are again equal then placement will be by the total number of runners on base, regardless of whether those runners scored or where retired while on base.
