Free Entry for Fire-Harimau Clash

Sunshine Coast Fire are offering free entry to this Sunday’s Round 4 NPL Queensland match-up against Harimau Muda ‘A’ at the recently upgraded Stockland Park Western Fields.

The ground forms part of local Sunshine Coast club side Kawana Soccer Club, and will play host to the match after Fire was unable to secure their regular home venue at nearby Stockland Stadium for the blockbuster clash.

While entry is free, seating is limited and supporters are encouraged to arrive early for what promises to be a quality afternoon of high-tempo football.

Harimau Muda ‘A’ are undefeated in the first two matches of their National Premier Leagues campaign after last weekend’s 5-2 defeat of Redlands United.

Fire will also be looking to gain another win following last weekend’s defeat of Western Pride 3-1, overturning consecutive losses to open the campaign.

Fire Coach Kevin A’herne-Evans is expecting a tough match against Harimau Muda’s exciting, attacking brand of football.

“Harimau Muda “A” pride themselves on effective possession so we will have to be disciplined in our defensive structure. In watching the Malaysian team’s games against Redlands and Moreton Bay, you can see they have speed and dangerous players all over the park,” he said.

“However we are relishing the opportunity to play against quality opposition and it will be a great test to our players who are improving every game.”

The match will prove a test for Fire goalkeeper Antony Hall. Last year’s NPL Queensland Safe Hands winner was in excellent form against Western Pride and performed a remarkable fingertip save to show why he is still regarded as one of the state’s premier shot-stoppers.

The match will kick at 3:00pm and follows junior fixtures commencing with the Under 12’s against Western Pride from 10:00am.
