Moreton Bay United will become the first NPL Queensland team to get a taste of international quality football this season, when they host Harimau Muda ‘A’ this Saturday night.

Harimau Muda, which translates as ‘Young Tigers’, arrived in Brisbane on Wednesday night and immediately travelled to their new Gold Coast base to ready themselves for their first match of the campaign.

They will have two training sessions on Australian soil prior to the match, however, being seasoned youth international competitors, the Malaysians will be familiar with the short turnaround before lining up against the Jets.

For their part, the Jets will be looking to build on an impressive 5-2 opening round win against Western Pride – a result which sees them currently sitting second on the NPL Queensland table.

Moreton Bay United Sports and Recreation Officer Les Moodley said the Albany Creek based club hoped for a big turnout from the local Malaysian community for the match, as well as local Jets supporters.

“The match is free admission and there are lead-up matches from Football Brisbane’s Under 20’s competition prior to the main game,” Moodley said.

“We are very excited about the being the first to face Harimau Muda ‘A’,” he continued.

“As usual we will have the barbeque running, pizzas made on site and a range of other food available for all.”

“As well, we have a major draw to win a four corporate box tickets to the Roar v Adelaide United match thanks to the Brisbane Roar.”

Kick-off for the main match is at 6pm at Wolter Park, Jacaranda Drive, Albany Creek (north of Brisbane). The Under 20’s curtain raiser will start at 3:30pm. Entry is free.
