NPL Catch-Up Round Preview

Moreton Bay United Jets (6th) v Brisbane City (3rd)
Sunday, 2nd June 2013 - 5:00pm, Wolter Park

Brisbane City will attempt to regain second spot on the National Premier Leagues table on Sunday when they meet Moreton Bay United Jets in a rescheduled clash at Wolter Park.

While other clubs enjoy a mid season break, the two capital city sides will face off after heavy rains saw the postponement of their Round 5 match in mid-April.

The match-up offers both sides a chance to return to winning ways after both teams gave up second-half leads to record draws last weekend.

City’s 3-3 result at Redlands extended their undefeated run to eight games - goal machine Antonio Murray scoring for the ninth match in a row to take his season tally to 17, while Matt Biggins marked his return with the crucial final goal.

Jets conceded late to split the points with QAS at home, however the 2-2 result concluded an impressive month for the club in its inaugural season, taking seven points from four fixtures including solid wins over fellow newcomers Western Pride and CQFC Energy.

Another win this weekend against City would see Jets move to a share of fifth with Sunshine Coast at the midpoint of the season, setting up Terry Kirkham’s team for a finals charge later in the year.

While three points to City would see Glen Volker’s side leapfrog Brisbane Strikers into outright second place and reduce Olympic’s lead atop the league to six points.
