CQ Premier League Round 18 Preview

The official final round of matches is upon us. A couple of teams do have catch up matches next week, but this weekend sees the 18th and final round being played. Matches are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday:

Clinton v Frenchville - Clinton Sports Ground at 7.00pm. The majority of pundits will say this is the final rehearsal before the Grand Final, but this match carries a lot more bearing than just a run through. Frenchville need to win this match to give themselves any chance of winning the minor premiership and hosting the major semi final. Clinton know that a draw will be enough to finish on top of the ladder because of their superior goal difference. The points to be shared in this one.

CQFC Energy v Southside - Rugby Park at 4.00pm. Both teams will miss the finals, but should be reasonably pleased with their season. Southside can steal fifth spot off Bluebirds if they win and Nerimbera do the right thing by them. Similarly, CQFC Energy could take Southside's position. Could be an open match, Southside to get up, just.

Berserker v Emerald - Elizabeth Park at 4.00pm. Emerald have proven this season they are not here to make up the numbers, they have shown they can compete with the best teams. Having the extra match up their sleeve, Emerald can potentially finish as high as fifth so this will be one they want to win. Emerald by a couple.

Central v Capricorn Coast - Sun Valley at 7.00pm. Central have come to a grinding halt over the last two rounds and need to win this match to secure a home semi final. Cap Coast have been on a rollercoaster all season, but if the 'up' team decides to play, they could cause some headaches for Central. Cap Coast to win in an upset.

Sunday:

Nerimbera v Bluebirds - Pilbeam Park at 5.00pm. A crucial match for both teams. Nerimbera need to win this one to have any chance of finishing third on the ladder, while Bluebirds will be desperate to hang onto fifth spot after such a promising start to the season. Nerimbera has more at stake, the home team to win.
