CQ Premier League Round 17 Preview

The penultimate round for most teams, with a couple of key match ups. All matches to be played on Saturday, 27 July.

CQFC Energy v Bluebirds - Webber Park at 7.00pm. Bluebirds will be desperate for a win. If they don't, their finals aspirations are basically gone. The Energy had a good win against Berserker and will be keen to do likewise this weekend. For Bluebirds, this is knockout final, they should get up.

Frenchville v Central - Ryan Park at 7.00pm. On paper, the match of the round. Central hit a brick wall last week, crashing to their heaviest defeat in some time against the ladder leaders. The loss of some key personnel may have attributed to the loss, but they will have to get their performance back on track with the finals only weeks away. Frenchville had the last round off, so they should be refreshed and sharpening their play for the weeks ahead. The home team to win.

Southside v Clinton - Jardine Park at 7.00pm. A really important win for Southside over Bluebirds last weekend while Clinton absolutely demolished Central. Either Central were completely off their game or Clinton has taken it to another level, which does not bode well for the other teams in the finals. Southside can keep their slim finals hopes alive with a win here, but they will have to play the best match of their season. Clinton to win by a couple.

Emerald Eagles v Capricorn Coast - Emerald Football Club at 4.00pm. Both teams have enjoyed some success over recent weeks and, while this match has no bearing on the finals race, they will be keen to continue that success. This result will probably get down to how Cap Coast travel. Emerald should get up at home.

Berserker v Nerimbera - Elizabeth Park at 7.00pm. It has been a long season for Berserker so they might be looking forward to just enjoying the last couple of matches. Nerimbera need this match to all but cement their top four spot. There is absolutely no pressure on Berserker, they can enjoy themselves, but Nerimbera should have enough firepower to get the job done. Nerimbera to win pretty comfortably.
