CQ Premier League Round 9 Preview

The last round of matches (except for one catch up match) and we have reached the half way stage of the regular season. The results from last weekend consolidated positions for some teams, raised questions for others.

Frenchville v Clinton - 7.00pm at Ryan Park. Is this the dress rehearsal to the Grand Final? All of the statisitcs tell you this will be the match of the season to date. Frenchville had a solid win over Central last Saturday, while Clinton made light work of Southside. Both coaches will tell you it's still only half way through the season, but each will want whatever psychological advantage they can get. Frenchville to get up.

Bluebirds v Nerimbera - 7.00pm at Webber Park. Good wins for both teams last weekend. This match will be an opportunity for one team to reach the halfway stage in third position, possibly level on points with one of the top two teams. Nerimbera have been on a bit of a roll over the last month, so Bluebirds will need to bring the game that showed against the Energy. Nerimbera, only just.

Emerald Eagles v Berserker - 4.00pm at Emerald Football Club. Emerald will be over the moon with their win against Cap Coast on Saturday, while Berserker suffered another heavy defeat. The Eagles have been inconsistent at home, but Berserker have scored only once on the road this season. Emerald to notch up their third win of the season.

Capricorn Coast v Central - 7.00pm at Apex Park. Both teams will need to bounce back from disappointing losses last weekend. Cap Coast probably would have pencilled in a win against Emerald, but missed out, while Central suffered their biggest home defeat this season at the hands of Frenchville. Cap Coast just have to start winning, Central don't want to lose touch with the top four. Central to win.

Southside v CQFC Energy - 7.00pm at Jardine Park. Not a good result for either team on the weekend. Both were comfortably defeated by teams in the top four, a result that would have the coaches contemplating their plans for the second half of the season. This match is perhaps more important for Southside, basically to stay in touch, whereas the Energy can put down the last result as a bit of a wake up call if they win here. CQFC Energy by a couple.
