CQ Premier League Round 8 Preview

After the catch up round last weekend, all teams get back into competition this Saturday, 11 May. As we approach the half way stage of the season, a few teams will need to start improving their results over the next few rounds otherwise they will be left behind.

Cap Coast v Emerald Eagles - Apex Park 4.00pm. Both of these teams sat out last weekend so the players should be refreshed and ready to go. The start of the season has been disappointing for each of them with too many goals being conceded. No doubt both coaches will be looking for a change of fortune on Saturday.

Clinton v Southside - Clinton Sports Ground 7.00pm. The reigning champions take on a much improved outfit from Southside. Clinton had a comfortable start to the season, but they have been challenged over the last few weeks. This will be the real litmus test for Southside to see if they are finals material.

Nerimbera v Berserker - Pilbeam Park 7.00pm. Nerimbera has had a solid start to the season while Berserker has struggled for any sort of consistency. A good win by Nerimbera over Southside last weekend and a determined effort by Berserker against Central might see a closer match than expected by most.

Central v Frenchville - Sun Valley 7.00pm. This could be the 'match of the round'. Central always grow an extra leg at home, but Frenchville have had the weekend off to freshen up. Frenchville will be keen to consolidate top spot, especially given Clinton has a match in hand, while Central will want to start stringing victoies together to stay in touch.

Bluebirds v CQFC Energy - Webber Park 7.00pm The other potential 'match of the round'. Previous results indicate Bluebirds can match it with the top sides while the new boys, CQFC Energy, have shown they will be thereabouts come finals time. Both teams will be keen to maintain their recent form.
