Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program

The Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program supports not-for-profit sport and recreation organisations with relief efforts to re-establish their facilities and activities following natural disasters.  This program provides funding to eligible organisations within areas declared under the Queensland Government Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA)( http://disaster.qld.gov.au/Financial%20Support/Activations.html ).


What assistance is available?
The program provides funding of up to $25,000 for eligible organisations in relation to damage caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald and associated rainfall and flooding.
Eligible sport and recreation organisations in the local government areas below can request funding to:
• replace equipment and operational items (including office and canteen equipment); and/or
• repair/restore damage to sport and recreation infrastructure; and /or
• mitigate the effect of future damage due to a similar natural disaster event, to damaged sport and recreation infrastructure.


Aurukun, Banana, Brisbane, Burdekin, Burke, Cairns, Carpentaria, Cassowary Coast, Central Highlands, Cherbourg, Cloncurry, Cook, Doomadgee, Etheridge, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Goondiwindi, Hinchinbrook, Hope Vale, Ipswich, Isaac, Kowanyama, Lockhart River, Logan, Mackay, Mapoon, McKinlay, Moreton Bay, Mornington, Napranum, Northern Peninsula Area, Palm Island, Pompuraaw, Redland, Rockhampton, Scenic Rim, Somerset, South Burnett, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast, Tablelands, Toowoomba, Torres, Torres Strait Islands, Western Downs, Whitsunday, Wujal Wujal and Yarrabah (excluding any local government area declared as a Category C area under the NDRRA).


Important dates


11 February 2013 - applications open
10 May 2013 - applications close
15 November 2013 - completion of program and final acquittal


Not all applications may be successful. Projects demonstrating the highest need in terms of re-establishing sport and recreation activity will take precedence.
