The Northern Suburbs Basketball Association is a community basketball association, based in Crows Nest (Sydney), New South Wales.

The NSBA has more than 5000 members and provides basketball competition for miniball through to “Masters”, as well representative teams and a host of development programs for its members.

Officials Administrator Coordinator

We are looking for suitably qualified applicants for the permanent part-time role of Officials Administrator Coordinator. This position will be a 20-hour/week role and duties will include –

  • Local competition rostering & administration:
    • Administration of “Schedula” – a web based referee rostering system
    • Rostering of officials for all NSBA local competitions
    • Administration of officials for the NSBA external local competition venues
    • Record keeping on all referee/officials literature and documents
    • Recruitment of “green shirt” entry level officials
    • Administration of referee and officials training courses
  • Tribunals:
    • Record keeping of all tribunal matters
    • Administration of tribunals
    • Organisation and communication to panel members
  • General:
    • Communication with score-bench officials and statisticians as required
    • Phone inquiries and customer service as required

The successful applicant will need to possess -

  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Strong clerical and organisational skills
  • Experience with supporting and communicating with volunteers
  • Customer service focus
  • Proven history of managing ongoing communication to a wide range of stakeholders
  • The successful applicant will be required to complete appropriate member protection and working with children checks

Junior Referee Coach

We are looking for suitably qualified applicants for the casual role of Referee Coach (Juniors). This position will be approximately 16-hours/week role during competition periods and duties will include:

  • Provide ongoing technical support & encouragement for junior referees in the NSBA’s Friday evening junior competition and Saturday “Mini-ball” competition.
  • Evaluation of junior referees for upgrade from “Green shirt” introductory level
  • Mentoring of “green shirt” and junior officials during junior and mini-ball competitions
  • Delivery of a minimum of four Junior Introduction to Officiating Courses per year

The successful applicant would possess – 

  • Level 1 Referee Coach accreditation (minimum)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior referees
  • Demonstrated ability to present introductory referee courses
  • Experience in working with volunteers
  • The successful applicant will be required to complete appropriate member protection and working with children checks
