Smoke Around Crows Nest Effecting Miniball

Due to the ongoing bushfires in and around Greater Sydney, the Northern Suburbs Basketball Association is aware of the impact on the air quality in the Crows Nest region. While all NSBA Mini-ball and Under 13 competitions are going ahead today, we are aware that some of the venues, including the North Sydney Indoor Sports Centre, have some smoke inside the venue and this is impacting air quality.

The NSBA is taking the following measures to ensure the safety and welfare of all players for the Mini-ball and Under 13 competitions on Saturday, 2 November 2013:

  • All coaches will be told if they feel the air quality is impacting the welfare of the players, they can forfeit the game without penalty
  • Provision of an additional time-out in each half so players can have extra drink breaks and coaches can monitor player welfare
  • Communication to all referees and supervisors of the need to liaise with team coaches throughout the game

The NSBA is committed to providing a safe environment for all players, referees and spectators and will continue to monitor the situation to ensure all players can enjoy their basketball experience.
