Mitcham Under 9 Black V Lysterfield
What a great team game! Against a very strong opposition it was so pleasing to see for the majority of the game our players stick to our team rules. The highlight of the match was the response to the challenge set at three quarter time for Liam to kick his first goal. After many kicks inside the forward line that saw the opposition clear the ball, with the dying seconds of the game Cam did the most selfless act of his career to date and as he was running into a goal he handballed it to Liam who dribbled it past three sets of hands and legs for...a GOAL as the siren sounded!! There was so many examples of the players demonstrating our team rules of encouraging each other, celebrating and picking each other up off the ground. We are now automatically running to our opponents when we are not in posession and spread hard when we have the ball (most of the time). Every player had a highlight from Jake repelling multiple attacking balls in the third quarter, Ethan Reed's hard running, Zach aggravating his opponent by sticking next to him, Jack's corageous marks, Brody's agressive attack on the ball, Daniel's clean skills (silky) below his knees, Aryton's handballing (stiff to get called for holding the ball), Ethan Schutt's team first attitude (always picking his team mates off the ground), MIchael's dashing run, Chloe's slick get and give handballs, Ben's precision kicks, Cam's two handballs (record), Xavier's booming voice as captain yelling at the huddle, Thomas' run and carry and who can forget Liam's siren-buzzer goal. I'm looking forward to seeing us all enjoy playing together as a team for our last match next Sunday. We missed you Max (somewhere in Europe), Harry (somewhere in Victoria) and Austin (sick). Go Mitcham Blacks!

Under 11A 4-4 (28) defeated by Vermont 9--3 (57)
Gallant against a undefeated side. Was good to get within a couple of kicks in the 3rd quarter. Will have to be on our best game if we are lucky enought to meet them again in the final.
Best Players: Ryan, Jake M. Lorenz, Charlie and Heath
Goals: Chopper, Josh and James
Under 12B Mitcham 2-2 (14) defeated by Rowville 3-2 (20)
While the scoreboard didn’t exactly tick over the way we would have liked, we played some good footy against a revved up Rowville. Not a pretty game, it was close and tough. We held sway for a lot of the game but our season long issue of not being able to score plauged us again. Congratulations to Caden Sleap, Ty Crupi and Max Irvine on playing their 50th games.
Best Players: Jack E, Max I, Mason P, Patrik N, Mark A, Angus B

Mitcham Under 13A 7-9 (51) defeated Vermont 5-7 (37)
Welcome back to Kaedin L & Lachlan G who both returned to our team after long stints out. We had Vermont away which is always an outstanding contest. The true test of a team's belief and strength of character - how they respond under pressure, fair to say 27pts down 10min into the 1st quarter wasn't the test we were after. The boys went back to basics of beating their opponents and winning each contest when required. Our run and carry kick started our game, along with work rate and effort, our contested pressure went up a gear. Outstanding team effort, looking forward to Heathmont next week.

MATCH of The Round
Mitcham Under 15s 6-7 (43) defeated by Wantirna South 8-16 (64)
Round 13 saw us up against Wantirna South for a chance to keep climbing the ladder. We got off to a good start kicking the first 2 goals, but they were able to get control of the game and were able to take the lead into quarter time. They continued controlling the game in the second quarter and had a 4 goal lead at halftime. We made some adjustments with Sheraz going into the backline and intercepting the ball, Austin swapping in the ruck and helping with clearances, Denzell providing a target to get the ball forward, Mason playing deep forward and kicking a couple of goals, Jules tackling and crashing into the oppostition, and the two Fletchers providing some run and carry. Unfortunatley, it wasn't enough and we couldn't quite get on top of them on the scoreboard. It's a credit to all the young men for staying in the contest and fighting it out until the end.
Best Players: Austin, Connor, Denzell, Fletcher M., Fletcher I., Jules, Mason, Sheraz
Goals: Dan T. 2, Mason 2, Joel, James, Tonnam
