Round 8 Match Reports and Awards
Mitcham under 9 Black vs Wantirna South Green
We played the FightMND round at Walker Park against Wantirna South today. The kids looked great in their blue socks. Our 2 captains today were Jake (The Extractor) and Austin (Auzzie). Both captains had terrific games. Our first medalist was Liam (The Bear) who played his best game of the year. Our second medalist was Ethan R (Captain Courageous) who was prolific today all over the ground. Our Zagame award went to Austin (Auzzie) who rose to the occasion as Captain and played a great game. The milkshake went to Jake (The Extractor) for his usual high standard performance which included a courageous mark running back with the flight Jonathon Brown style. Chloe (The Pressure Queen) won our Fish & Chip award for a fantastic game where she really hunted the footy today along with her opponent as always. Special mentions to Brody (The Beast) for a 6 goal haul, Jack (The Package) for a great game where he didn't get hurt and Ethan S (Captain Tenacious) who was a rock in defense and stopped several goals. It was a great game to watch today with our players sharing the ball brilliantly. It is so encouraging to see such unselfish play and team comradery from such young kids. This is plain to see when you watch them move the ball with ease and pile on the goals (26 today). Go Blacks

U10 Yellow: Lilydale Gold v Mitcham Yellow
"Today the Mitcham U10 Yellow team played against Lilydale Gold.
A strong opposition this week with some bigger boys however we tackled and pressured the opposition for the four quarters.
A special mention to Rohan Hill for being awarded best player by the opposition and Charlie Orpwood for being awarded the Mitcham Medal. Encouragement awards were also given to Sam Miskimmin, Kieran Puls and Darcy Poynter for their great efforts throughout the game.
Let's have a good training session this week and come out firing against Mooroolbark.
Go Tigers !

U10 Black V The Basin
As a team we are working on keeping our composure, finding little wins and getting out of our comfort zone which started with Stewart standing up as captain and leading us out against the Basin at Batterham reserve.
Connor started on fire while Zac M’s chase down tackle was great to see.
Ollie, Mathew and Heath all brushed themselves off after heavy collisions to again attacked the ball.
Jake Ryan worked hard all game against some close attention from the opposition while Thomas was using his pace with run and carry.
One of our best plays of the year was a coast-to-coast which started from Thomas at full back to Jack Ryan to Connor to Harvey to Ollie who kicked our only score for the day.
Go Tigers,
See you on the track.
Cheers,
Eddy.

Under 12B Norwood 4-2 (26) defeated by Mitcham 6-10 (46)
In great conditions on a new deck we took on a competitive Norwood outfit. A dominant 2nd quarter set up our win as we kicked 3 goals 5 and we were able to pretty much hold that lead for the rest of the game. Once again, when we ran the ball and took on the opposition was when we looked the most dangerous. LeBron, Mason and Jack played great games in front of our senior player mentors that came down to watch. Thanks guys!
Best Players: J Ewison, M Porter, L Gencarelli, J Horvat, N Beyer, T Crupi
Goals: L Gencarelli 2, W Aujard 1, M Porter 1, N Beyer 1, A Parigi 1
Under 13A Mitcham 4-6 (30) defeated by Nth Ringwood 6-9 (45)
The boys played a very committed North Ringwood team today. Things didn't go our way from the opening bounce and losing players during the game, didn't help our task. Nevertheless, to North Ringwood's credit they jammed the game up and spread very well from the contest when they moved forward. We will lock and reload heading towards the business end of the season.
Best Players: Aiden, Annguyen T, Jack B, Hudson, Hamish, Lachlan, Ryan M
Goals: Goal Kickers: Jai Townsend , Ryan O'Sullivan, Hamish Gill, Aiden Patterson
Under 14 Girls SBL Wolves 68 defeated Mitcham 1
"A very spirited effort by the girls this week against tough opposition. We showed a lot of heart with our strong tackling, second efforts, getting in under the pack and fighting hard for the ball. Our backline stood firm today, capably led as always by Lucy D, with some strong support from Grace G, Charlotte, Teagan, Maddie and Milly.
Taya dominated the ruck, with Lily C providing her usual run through the centre with the help of Jaz, Maddie, Lauren and Hayley. Our tackling and body work was exceptional today, particularly from Lucy O, Lily D, Sienna and Lana. A wonderful team effort today girls!! "
Best Players : Taya, Lucy D, Lily C, Lauren, Lucy O
Under 15 Mitcham 6.8 - 44 Ferntree Gully 12.10 - 82
This week we took on Ferntree Gully at their ground. Knowing the importance of the match, the young men came out firing and kicked the first 2 goals to take an early lead. Unfortunately, we had a few lapses at the end of the first quarter which saw the opposition take a 1 goal lead. The second quarter saw a drop off in intensity and effort which let the oppostition take a comfortable lead, which they were able to keep for the rest of the game. It was pleasing to see our young men play out the game and continue to fight it out. Alwyn, Boothy, Cal, Connor, DT, James, Raph and Tonnam should be commended for always trying their best to help their teammates and get the most out of themselves.
Best Players: Alwyn, Boothy, Cal, Connor, DT, James, Raph, Tonnam
Goals: Tonnam, James 2, Connor, JP
U17B - Mitcam Black 3-5 (23) v Rowville Knilghts 14 -11 (95)
The Under 17 Black team travelled to Rowville to take on ladder leader The Knights – Rowville. The boys started the game well, but our disposal and decision making let us down & and the bigger bodies from the opposition took control of the game. The backline stood tall & our onballers tried hard, but injuries were also a concern with 3 of the boys reducing the number of fit players to 16 at the end of the game. Get to training this week boys, listen to the coaches, train hard and come well prepared for next week’s game against Noble Park.
Best Players: Pat Horvarth, Will Drake, Dom Howell
Goals : Dom Howell (2), Will Drake (1)
