Match Reports and Awards Round 6
Mitcham under 9 Black vs Lysterfield Teal
Todays game against Lysterfield was a very physical affair. Despite there being no tackling, the kids were very hard at it and the trainers for both teams had a busy day. Today was captains day as our two captians were also our medal winners. Camden (The Bull) led one of our 8x8 sides and played an outstanding game. Cam dominated in every position, shared the ball and brought his team mates into the game as a good captain should. Daniel (Silky) led our other side and played a terrific game. He led by example and did everything right. Our Zagames winner was Ethan (Captain Courageous) and was hard at it as always. Harry (The Hard Man) won the milkshake award and is improving every week. Max (The Machine) won the Fish & Chips with a 9 goal haul thanks to some great delivery by Cam (The Bull), Jack (The Package), Jake (The Extractor) and Harry (The Hard Man). I was pretty happy the way our kids handled themselves with the physicality of today's game. I would like to see our players look after each other a bit more and pick each other up. There were also times today where our players allowed the opposition too much time and space but it was a great effort today. As always our kids moved the ball well and hit their targets which is a credit to our coaches Rhys and Josh. Another high scoring affair with 25 goals today. Well done Blacks

Under 12B Mitcham 9-7 (61) Rowville 3-3 (21)
A special day was marked by the brilliant indiginous flag flying proudly over Walker Park and Jaylen Allen reading a special Acknowledgement of Country in front his teammates, Rowville players and the many spectators who had come to support. We started against the wind and had most of the play in the first but couldn't get the score on the board. We nudged in front by half time with Jaylen kicking a massive goal and then worked Rowville over in the second half kicking 6 goals to 1 to run out 40 point winners. Thanks to everyone who supported the day, including Rowville who stood respectfully with us before the game.

Under 15's Mitcham 6-7 (43) v. Wantirna South 8-16 (64)
This week we took on Wantirna South for the second time. We were looking to avenge our 4 point round 1 loss, but they were keen to make sure it wasn't that close again. They came out very sharp and clean, while we were slow to react and sloppy with our skills. This led to them taking a 20 point qtr time lead. While we managed to even things out from there, scoring 43 points to their 44 for the last 3 quarters, it didn't seem like we could get close enough to challenge them. Boothy, Connor, Dan. N., Dan T., Flether M., James, Jasper, Luke and Pat should be applauded for their abilty and willingness to keep fighting & trying their best to get us back into the game.
Goals: Dan T. 3, Denzell, James, JP

Under 17D Mitcham 9-10 (64) d Wantirna South 3-5 (23)
After a disappointing loss last week the weekend presented a new oppurtunity for our group. The boys were challenged to be more aggressive and more physical over the ball and we responded with a fantastic 4 quarter effort. In the end we were simply stronger and tougher than our opposition and it showed all throughout the game. We were able to use the blustery conditions to our advantage and played a very smart game of football. The win takes us to 3-3 and gives us a good chance to improve to a winning record next week back @ home. Well done to all.
