We played away at Vermont today in some wet weather football. Our 2 captains today were Ethan (Captain Courageous) Reed and Ayrton White. They both had terrific games and lead from the front. Our Anzac medalists were Max (The Machine) Lazarus for some terrific team play and Chloe (The Pressure Queen) Linnett for a great game and looking after her mates. At one stage I saw Chloe get clotheslined and bounce straight back up into the face of her opponent. Our Zagame award went to Jack Cruse a dominant performance. Jack was instructed to take Daniel (Silky) Sagwan with him to Zagame's who also dominated the game. The milkshake went to Thomas (The Terminator) Coulson who was in everything today. There was some terrific team play and sharing the ball between Thomas, Max, Ethan Reed and Ethan Schutt that was outstanding that personified the ANZAC spirit. Camden (The Bull) Walters won our new Fish & Chip award for a dominant display both in the air and on the ground. Once again we could have easily given awards to every player this week. The players showed some real ANZAC spirit today in a wonderful display of teamwork. Our run and carry was a real feature and enabled us to kick 27 goals for the day. Go Blacks

Under 15 Round 2
Round 2 saw us take on Liliydale at our second home Koonung Reserve for Anzac round. The first half saw us matching it with the opposition pretty well. With the exception of a few skill errors, we were playing good footy. JP, James and Luke were presenting well up forward. Denzell kicked a great goal from the boundary, while Raph was able to kick a good crumbing goal. Tonnam, Connor and Joel were providing run and carry through the middle of the ground. Jasper, Dan N., Pat and Fletch I. were keeping spoiling and running the ball out of the backline. Through these efforts we were able to go into halftime only a couple of goals down. Unfortunately, the effort and intensity dropped off in the third quarter and Lilydale was able to get a comfortable lead. The fourth quarter saw a lift in effort and a willingness to fight, but with kicking 2.6 for the quarter, we weren’t able to get the scoreboard pressure we needed and went down by 31 points. Well done to the boys for playing the game out and fighting to get back into the game. Congratulations to Connor and Joel for winning the Anzac Day medals. Their efforts on the field were commendable and representative of the Anzac Spirit.
Goals: JP 2, James 2, Cal, Austin, Raph, Denzell

Mitcham 97 defeated Knox 3
Terrific result in the wet conditions today. Knox are a extremely physical and big team. Our young Tigers raised the tempo with mid field dominance and polish on the outside. Our back line was simply outstanding, rotating our Forwards / Defenders, we were able to give valuable time and opportunities to teach some of our players different setups. Brilliant watching from a far as the whole team worked together, caring and looking after each other.
Goals: Hudson G & Peter C 3, Aiden P 2, Noah S, Annguyen T, Jack B, Ryan M, Hamish G, Jai T 1
Under 10 Yellow
Summary: Today the Mitcham U10 Yellow team played against Montrose Red in the ANZAC round clash. It was a moving tribute to the ANZACS with the Last Post being played before the game followed by our National Anthem.
The conditions were damp and wet to start with and our boys adapted very well to this, being first in for the ball, playing in front at all times and pressuring the opposition with some great tackling for the four quarters.
Our team work was phenomenal all day and the boys were rewarded with a great win. The boys are improving week by week and starting to listen and implement the coaching instructions.
A special mention to Blake Calder and Billy Love for being awarded the ANZAC Day medals from the Montrose coaching panel. Also to Riley Bean for being awarded the Mitcham Tigers Player of the Round medal. Encouragement awards were also given to Fletcher Marini, Rohan Hill and Kieran Puls for their great efforts throughout the game.

Cold, wet and windy conditions greeted us at Koonung Park for our ANZAC clash versus Vermont.
Jack Ryan lead us out as captain for the day and competed well but we were up against it all game against a well drilled and well skilled Vermont outfit.
Zach M played with the ANZAC spirit, he was in and under and was deserving of the ANZAC medal. The highlight of the day was Ollie’s rundown tackle from halfback to save a certain goal.
Iggy’s hustle and bustle in the middle and down back was great to watch while Tom’s run and carry created some good footy.
Jack Andrews took some great grabs while Heath’s kick out of defence was awesome.
Under trying conditions we played it out to the end which was good to see.
Go Tigers.
See you on the track.

Mitcham U9 Boys Anzac round 2 was a perfect winter's day event with plenty of good spirit, great sportsmanship and more than enough rain!
Team A worked together creating the best chain handballs of the season with one set by Riley and Preston resulting in a goal. Max got in the mix getting his hands on the ball and kicking at goal like a champion with the opposition all over him. All the boys ran hard on the big field at Livingstone Primary, Tate took an awesome specky, Seth kicked some great near miss shots and Preston kicked 2 serious goals. The opposition couldn't get past the strong defensive pressure put on by Aston and Jarrod. The boys were in fine form today and played a strong game, calling out the names as they kicked to each other and coming together to support their team mates who kicked goals.
It was under menacing skies that Mitcham Yellow B's took to the field at Livingstone on Sunday morning. Looking for a fast start, we loaded up the midfield with plenty of run and the boys certainly delivered. Andy showed plenty of dash, as he took the opposition on, as did Zack on several occasions. Oscar was industrious around the packs. Up forward, our Captain for the day, Harrison, and powerhouse, Felix, were providing a strong contest and with Jono and Sam fighting hard down back, we held our own against a strong Vermont side.
Much to the delight of the assembled supporters, the rain came down in the second term and the boys duly reverted to wet weather footy. Jono's run and carry was solid through the midfield and Zack provided us with a strong contest up forward. Harrison took a strong mark and Andy continued to run, run, run.
Although weight of numbers started to tell in the second half, our boys on both Team A and B never gave up and continued to impress with their calling for the footy (using each others names rather than "here, here") and will to keep running. A special call-out to Sam for displaying great leadership in letting the coach know, at three quarter time, that he was yet to have a run in the middle.
