Mitcham under 8 Black
Teams: Mitcham V Glen Waverley Rovers
Summary The Blacks enjoyed their last game today against the Rovers. Our captain today was Ben (the Aviator) D'Costa. Ben had a great game with his marking and kicking a feature as always along with a nice goal. Liam O'Dwyer and Archer Howard were our medal winners today. Archer was hard at it and Liam provided some great shepperding today. Our milkshake winners were Brody Wolst and Flynn Hardy. Flynn showed some terrific team play and Brody repeatedly put his body on the line. Austin (the Doctor) Loring has shown great improvement this year and had plenty of it. Chloe (the Pressure Queen) Linnett broke the lines several times and brought her usual pressure. Thomas (the Terminator) Coulson went in hard and looked after his mates which is always great to see. Ethan (Captain Courageous) Reed had leather poisoning and had a great game. Jake (the Extractor) McConnell kicked 3 goals in 5 minutes and is always one of our best. Daniel (Silky) Sagwan kicked a lovely goal with a snap over his shoulder (from the backline) and took some great overhead marks. Camden (the Bull) Walters played another great game with a nice goal and some long licking. Michael (the Smiling Assassin) Bamford is another player who has showed some great improvement this year and had a great game. Ethan Schutt spent most of his day at the bottom of the packs and did the hard things. Max (the Machine) Lazarus ran hard and kicked a nice long goal. A wonderful season for the Blacks and a pleasure to watch. Well done to all the players.

Teams: Mitcham V Mooroolbark
Summary: After a week off and playing our last game the boys had energy to burn. Ollie was back captaining the team and we were off to a great start. Self-belief and confidence were a focus and a highlight was Thomas Edward Wall’s handball out of the middle and Heath’s goal from downtown. Oscar, Cody and Ollie also stepped up and put one each over the goal umpires hat while Harvey saved a certain goal down the other end. Playing on the full ground we had plenty of space to run and carry with Archer, Jack and Zac C and M controlling the middle while Connor was staring and marking everything. The effort and team work was fantastic to see and showed just how much the boys had improved throughout the year. Go Tigers.
Best Players: Connor, Heath, Cody, Thomas Edward, Archer.
Goals: Ollie, Heath, Cody, Oscar.

Teams: Mitcham V Blackburn
Summary With another milestone game it was great to see the boys get behind Archer for his 50th game, another fantastic effort by all. I thought last week was our best game for the year, but I was mistaken. The boys have finished the season off in great form, saving their best till last. A really hard tackling game, we knew we had to play some great teamwork to get us over the line and that we did, running away with it in the end.

Hope you all enjoyed the presentation night, I think the boys all seemed to have a bit of fun. Just to reiterate my sentiments, I would like to thanks the following people:
Mark Dakic for his superior Team Management (never easy organising 20 kids to play footy)
Anthony Grace the medic to the stars (great ability to keep the kids on the field)
Andrew Watt for helping me out at training and donning the fluoroes on match day
Josh McConnell for also giving me a hand at training and filling in When Andrew wasn't available
Katie Cruse for putting up with my match day routines.
Also a big shout out to all the parents for bringing the kids to training and games and also helping out with the duties on match day. Enjoy the break from footy and hope to see you all next year.

Teams: Mitcham 0.0-0 V Bayswater 8.10-58
Summary: Our final game of the year saw us take on Bayswater and for the first time in a long time we managed to get 18 on the park without any under 10 top-ups. Steven Ajani and Patrick Petterlin lead the team in their 50th games, and both guys were right in the game from the word go. The boys started well and really fought out every contest in the first half as we restricted Bayswater. The great thing was the even contribution from so many players. In the second half we really looked a bit battle weary from a tough season as we broke down defensively. To their credit, the boys didn’t stop putting in and even with the trainers on overdrive late in the game they fought it out. A tough season for all involved but it was terrific to be able to acknowledge all the boys at the end of the game for their last round effort but also for the wonderful resilience and positive attitudes they continued to show in adversity. Well done under 11 black tigers - "we are all very proud of you!"

Lysterfield 3.9-28 V Mitcham 4.2-27
Summary: We were keen to finish of the season with a good performance against a strong opposition. Last time we played Lysterfield we lost by 50 points. After a sluggish start, we re-grouped and we were bold, we ran hard and played some really good footy. While it would have been nice to have a win, I was proud of the way the boys rallied and took the game on. A 1 point margin at the final siren didn't matter, it was important that we played the game the way we wanted to play. A remarkable turnaround from earlier in the season.

Mitcham V Lillydale
Summary: Today we played 3rd placed Lilydale, it was going to be a tough game, our girls were on from the first bounce, the pressure was up, we moved the ball fast, and we’re able to get on the scoreboard early. Great work from our onballers Lauren, Alessia, Hayley and Taya, as well as tough work from Charlotte, forward pressure from Grace and Teagen locking the ball in our forward line and super defensive work from Jess, Tahlia and Zhara, along with booming kicks from Matilda R saw us keep them scoreless at halftime, we had them on toast. We were slow coming out of the rooms after halftime, and Lilydale took full advantage scoring while they were the only team on the ground (literally the only team on the ground). But our girls weren’t done, Gemma stepped up in the middle, Erin and Vanessa worked hard pushing it forward. Stella and Matilda A held their marks, and Jennifer just keep running hard from the wing, and we were on the board again early in the last. The game was a tense battle, and our girls fought the game right out, especially mighty mouse Savannah, who flew the flag when the skipper got some rough treatment, fantastic to see them working as a team. A great victory for the girls today, outscoring them while both teams were on the ground. They can hold their heads high knowing they played within the spirit of the game. Well done Girls.

Teams: Mitcham 4.13-37 V Croydon 1.4-10
Summary Our last home game at Walker Park for 2018. The boys started very well controlling the midfield and contested ball thanks to Aiden and EJ. At times we were very wasteful with our ball use, handing the ball back to the opposition to easily. Once again our opportunities were created from our run and carry and our contested pressure. We controlled most of the second half but didn't gain the scoreboard pressure that we required. Finals are here! The true tests start with Croydon again this weekend, I know the boys are all looking forward to this.

Teams: Vermont 4.1-25 V Mitcham 6.5-41
Summary: A fitting way to end the regular season with 1v2. This rivalry is a healthy one and we know what to expect when we play Vermont. These cubs have had a fair time to think about what it takes to be respected in this league. An even balance of grit and determination will do that.
Best Players: liam, Xavier, Ashton, Jeremy

Teams: Mitcham 6.4-40 V Donvale 0.0 -0
Summary: On the road playing our neighbours down the road conditions ideal ,we started well kicking with the wind, the girls played hard physical football, time and time again we went forward scoring a couple of times in the first quarter and the second was much of the same strong defence, and run from the middle, Alannah, Lainy and Meagan dominated all day with the on ballers running hard, the backline was fantastic well led by Meg And Marissa. It’s very pleasing seeing the girls playing not in one position but one two and three positions. Well done!

Teams: Mitcham V East Ringwood
Summary: The final round saw us take on E. Ringwood at home. Unfortunately the result wouldn’t matter in terms of being able to play finals, but we told the boys what did matter was how you carry yourself even when the result has no bearing on the future. From the first bounce it was evident that the boys were willing to try their hardest not only for themselves but for their teammates as well. Tonnam, Jack and Mackay were going in hard in the midfield. Dan T. and Denzell, who kicked a brilliant first quarter goal, were critical link-up players. Dan N., Fletcher M. and Josh were pressuring and tackling hard. While JP, Mason and James were providing good targets up forward for us. Through these efforts we were able to go into halftime with a 2 goal lead. The third quarter was similar to the first half and we only extended our lead by 1 goal at the last change. Through the special efforts of Austin, Damon, James, and Pat we were able to get a fantastic result for the boys as we kicked seven goals in the final quarter to really enjoy our last quarter of footy for the year. Even though we didn’t make finals it was very rewarding to see the improvement in each of these young men throughout the year.
Goals: James 5, Denzell 2, Mason 2, Damon, Pat, Tonnam
I’d like to thank all the parents who helped out in various roles throughout the year as it is very much appreciated to devote a little time to contribute to the boys’ enjoyment. A special thank you to Catherine, Tony, Paul and Matt for taking the time each week to give the boys the opportunity to play at their best. A final thank you to the young men that took the field each week displaying great character, never giving up and proudly representing themselves all season.

Knox V Mitcham
Summary: Our final game started well with 4 unanswered goals in the first quarter; spirits were high, only to have the opposition return the favour in the 2nd quarter - clearly there was a scoring end. Failure to capitalise on the wind in the 3rd created a hole which was going to be hard to dig out of. To the boys' credit they did not allow the game to blow out; going down by only 10 points in the end. A difficult year with injuries across the board but the growth in the group as a whole with fresh blood puts this group in a positive place for U17 2019.
Best Players: Wu, Dom, Mitch, Sam

Mitcham under 16 Girls
Teams: Mitcham V The Basin
Summary: The Under 16 girls after successive wins played The Basin at Walker Park. Even though it was a perfect day for football we unfortunately didn’t play a great game. The Basin’s run and carry and tackling pressure was first rate while we seemed a bit flat. While girls continued to fight it out to the end unfortunately we couldn’t string together three wins in a row. The girls have improved as shown by the margin that we were beaten by The Basin earlier in the year. Our two award winners were Georgia Linnett and Mikayla Jones who both played great games. Both thanks to Megan and Maggie from the Under 14’s for filling in for us. The girls are looking forward to finishing the year off next week with another home game at Walker Park.
Best players Hayley, Jess, Maddie, Georgia Harman, Riley
