Mitcham under 8 Black
Teams: Mitcham V Vermont
Summary: The Blacks had a great game today against Vermont. Our running game continues to improve and was lovely to watch. Our captain today was Max (the Machine) Lazarus. Max had a big last quarter after a rev up from the coach and had plenty of it plus a great goal. Austin (the Doctor) Loring won the medal today for constantly being on the bottom of the pack and looking after his mates. Austin is always the one who picks a teammate up off the deck. Well done Austin. Our player of the week milkshake winner was Chloe (the Pressure Queen) Linnett. Chloe went in harder that she ever has today and was crashing through the packs along with her usual high pressure game. Well done Chloe. Thomas (the Terminator) Coulson was terrific today with a great goal and plenty of run through the middle. Ethan (Captain Courageous) Reed was in the thick of it as always and had a great game. Jake (the Extractor) McConnell had the ball on a string today and kicked 2 great goals. Ben D'Costa played well with some long kicks and great marks along with 2 terrific goals. Ben and Jake combined well in the third quarter and the 2 of them completely dominated proceedings for most of the quarter. Daniel (Silky) Sagwan kicked a lovely goal with a snap over his shoulder and had plenty of it. Archer Howard and Flynn Hardy played well in defence today. Camden (the Bull) Walters played another great game with a nice goal and some huge kicks. Michael (the Smiling Assassin) Bamford and Brody Wolst both played well in the middle today and worked together several times. Ethan Schutt ran hard today and was able to find space to provide a target for his teamates. Riley Byrnes from the Yellows played for us again and did a great job. Well done team!

Teams: Mitcham V Mooroolbark
Summary:Today the Mitcham U9 Yellow team had a an excellent game against Mooroolbark. The game was played in perfect Melbourne winter weather. Our boys matched Mooroolbark’s physical game style and did not take a backward step. Again our boys committed being first to the ball for four quarters. In defence, we manned up and played in front all day. The attack at the football was tremendous by all and a fantastic team effort. There was a great buzz in the rooms before the game as we had 20 players. The following players from the U8’s and U9 Black team, due to byes, helped us field our strongest team for the year. A big thank you to the following players that helped us out this week: Zac Stansfield, Preston Sleap, Thomas Mitchell, Zac Molinaro, Jack Ryan, Archer Thom. Well done to Mitchell Bibb for kicking his first goal. A special mention to Thomas Linnett for being awarded the medal and to Jack Ryan for winning the Two Brothers award. Well done to Sam Miskimmin for kicking his first goal from a nice pass by Fletcher Webb. A special mention to Declan Fox and Billy Love for being awarded the medals and to Callum Barnes for winning the Two Brothers awards

Teams: Mitcham V Wantirna South
Summary What a great game with probably our best 4 quarter effort for the year. Every player did their job, as we moved everyone to different spots on the ground. We are starting to play some great team football, with sharing the ball and protecting each other with some excellent shepherding across the ground. Great game boys and with one to go lets finish the season off really strongly against Blackburn on Sunday.

Teams: Mitcham 1.3-9 V South Belgrade 9.10-64
Summary: This week saw another milestone game with Stephen Stansfield playing his 50th. Stevo captained the side today as was typically competitive in the backline as he piled on the pressure and helped clear the ball on a number of occasions. Overall the day was a bit mixed with the boys playing two pretty solid quarters of footy but the less we talk about the other two quarters the better. After South Belgrave jumped out to a three goal lead at quarter time, the boys in the backline weathered the storm in the second quarter to keep them goalless despite the ball being locked in their half. The third quarter was our worst of the year as we gave up five goals before the boys responded well in the last with improved tackle pressure and hunting of the ball to lock it at our end. In the end we won the final quarter 1.3 to 1.0 which was a positive way to finish off, thanks to Alex Parigi who emerged from the congestion to snap a nice goal after a period of sustained pressure.
Best Players: Jett Love, Alex Parigi, Andrew Koem, Stephen Stansfield, Inti Nieto, Dylan Spencer-Yates, Tyson Darmody, Jaylen Allen

Mitcham 2.0-12 V Vermont 2.5-17
Summary: In a great game of footy by both teams, Vermont held off a determined Mitcham outfit in windy conditions. Our boys played 4 pretty good quarters of footy and despite not getting the 4 points they should be very proud of their efforts. We were competitive at the stoppages and looked very dangerous when we ran forward with the footy.
Best Players: Mason Porter, Angus Butler, Jesse Horvat, Jack Ewison, Will Serong, Patrik Nemsow

Mitcham under 12 Girls
Mooroolbark 7.4-46 v Mitcham 2.6-18
Summary: On the weekend our Mitcham girls played Mooroolbark. The past few weeks have been really tough for the girls so we really wanted a competitive game for them this week. It was a sunny day with a bit of a wind which created a scoring end. It was a tough game for our girls but players including Alessia, Lauren, Taya and Hayley fought all day in the midfield and across half back. Our pressure was great in the second quarter with Mooroolbark being unable to get it out of our forward line for majority of the quarter, unfortunately we were unable to get a goal from the great pressure. The last quarter was the best the girls had played all day, they were getting clearances from Tayas great rucking skills and we were able to move it into our forward line quickly. The game was very congested but Lauren fighting her way through and breaking two tackles allowed us to score our first goal of the day, well done! Well done also to Charlotte who created a drive for us in the forward line, Savannah for attacking the ball and also getting back on a player when needed, Jennifer for taking a few marks and tackling - even though you did go the wrong way haha. Zahra and Grace have improved a lot throughout the season and have become reliable kick outs for us on game day and last but not least Matilda Ridgeway, played a fantastic second half, attacked the footy, got plenty of clearances and kicked a pretty impressive goal from the boundary line in the last few minutes, great work. Unfortunately we didn't get the job done, but was good to kick a few goals and be competitive. Bad luck girls!!

Teams: Mitcham 11.10-76 V Lysterfield 1.3-9
Summary We had Lysterfield at Walker Park, they played defensively straight up by playing 2 players behind the ball. Our ball use could have been better at times but it was pleasing to see the boys sort out our ball movement. Our on field leaders implemented the change showing leadership beyond their years. We rotated the boys around in the second half providing the boys with more opportunities. Our run and carry was excellent along with our contested pressure. Well done boys.

Mitcham under 13
Teams: Mitcham 7.9-51 V Kilsyth 5.2-32
Summary: Pinks reserve has not been a happy hunting ground in the past for these Cubs. Bad memories of a couple of thumping’s a season ago still lingered as I made my way to the ground. We've come long way since then, is an understatement. 2 goals down at quarter time we showed what level was required to be a serious threat to anyone. A tuff win was what the doc ordered. Unfortunately one our most courageous lads Jenson will miss the rest of t he season with a broken collarbone. Jenson has been a massive reason we have accomplished what we have. You have showed "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog

Mitcham 3.3.21 vThe Basin 2.4.16
Playing away in very trying conditions, ground slopping, a howling wind and one playing two, The first quarter very even the second quarter much the same - windy and physical; hard in the packs. The on ballers keeping us in the game ,the backline working well, the forward line struggling at times, a number of girls going forward. Then all of a sudden - three quick goals! Probably 5 minutes of great football!
Lainy in the middle battled well in the ruck, giving away inches. Young Hannah and Phoebe with Jade and Lilly moved the ball forward time and time again. The backline once again played very well with very strong games from Marissa and Meg.
Goals: K.Alizzi 2 Luccy Ongaro 1

Mitcham V Rowville Hawks
Summary: . Having 2 on the bench was a luxury the U15 have not been used to this year. We looked a lot fresher on the field. Despite finals being out of contention, the boys played with real intent; forcing Rowville to play at their best. The opposition would have been concerned at half time after having no score in the 2nd quarter. With a little more accuracy and luck Mitcham would have stolen the show on Sunday.
Best Players: Ethan Wu, Dom Howell

Mitcham under 16 Girls
Teams: Mitcham V Kilsyth
Summary: The under 16 girls took on Kilsyth at Pinks Reserve. After witnessing the under 13 boys win on the top ground and the addition of Keely Brindley into the team for her first game the girls were determined to continue their winning ways from our last game. It was entertaining game to watch with both teams not able to make full use of the strong breeze. Kilsyth couldn’t convert their opportunities in the second quarter and while we had most of the play in our forward line in the third quarter we probably didn’t make the most use out of the breeze. The girls showed great composure to end up winning their second game in a row (and their second for the season). Considering Kilsyth beat us by over 100 points in round two it was a great effort by the girls to reverse this result and shows that football can be a game where winning can become infectious. Big thanks to Jade and Megan for filling and to Mark Brindley for filling in as the runner this week.
Best players: Riley, Jess, Hayley, Mikayla and Finn
