Teams: Mitcham Black V Blackburn
Summary A terrific game today against a very good Blackburn side. The Blacks were hungry today and their running game is really coming along. Although we don't officially keep score the Blacks came from behind and won with a huge last quater effort. The Blackburn runner commented to me after the game how good our run and carry was today. Our captain today was Michael (the Smiling Assassin) Bamford who played a great game. Michael also won the medal so well done Michael. Our player of the week milshake winner was Max (the Machine) Lazarus. Max played very well in the middle and kicked 3 great goals including 2 crucial last quater goals to put us in front. Thomas (the Terminator) Coulson was terrific all over the ground today and showed great courage running back with the flight of the ball with no concern for his own safety. Thomas copped quite a hard head knock but was ok. Chloe (the Pressure Queen) Linnett played one of her best games today. Chloe was hard at it and had several long runs out of defense along with a great goal. Ethan (Captain Courageous) Reed player particularly well in defence and ran hard all day. Jake (the Extractor) McConnell was terrific as always. Jake's first quarter in defence was a highlight as he repelled almost every Blackburn attack. Jake also kicked a nice goal. Daniel (Silky) Sagwan was classy as always with several near misses and some great grabs. Archer Howard played well today with some great run out of the middle. Camden (the Bull) Walters played a great game with plenty of possessions and 2 goals including the sealer in the last quarter. Austin Loring went in hard as always and was huge in the last quarter. Flynn Hardy followed up his medal last week with another good game. A great win today by the Blacks.

Teams: Mitcham Black V Blackburn
Summary: The boys were all fired up while the parents prayed for no rain. Thomas Wall lead out the team and we started like a house on fire with Archer giving us first use from the ruck. Jack and Harvey were marking everything while Zac C and Zac M had PB’s for meters gained. Cody’s handballing and centre clearances were great to watch while Jake dazzled us with his run out of the backline. Thomas Mitchell kicked a goal from the top of the goal square while Thomas Wall save a certain goal from the same spot! The effort from the boys was exemplified by Harvey’s chase down the wing and Dylan’s harassment. Oscar was in and out while Heath came close with a snap around his body and Iggy was charging through the lines. It was a great first 3 quarters with the boys fading in the last. With a week off the track the boys will be in no doubt raring to go for their last game in two weeks. Go Tigers.
Best Players, Jack, Zac M, Harvey, Zac C, Cody, Jake, Thomas M

Summary:Today the Mitcham U9 Yellow team had a hard fought game against a very good side from Vermont. The game was quite physical and our boys did not take a backward step. The conditions were windy and the Canterbury Rd end was definitely the goal kicking end. Our boys committed being first to the ball for four quarters. In defence, we manned up and played in front all day. The attack at the football was tremendous by all and a fantastic team effort. Well done to Sam Miskimmin for kicking his first goal from a nice pass by Fletcher Webb. A special mention to Declan Fox and Billy Love for being awarded the medals and to Callum Barnes for winning the Two Brothers awards
Best Players: Declan Fox, Billy Love, Callum Barnes, Riley Bean, Darcy Poynter, Thomas Linnett

Teams: Mitcham Yellow V North Ringwood
Summary After a little bit of a slow start, a few of the boys were doing a bit of ball watching and not picking up the opposition when they had the ball. I think we were a bit lucky with Nth Ringwood not kicking any goals in the first half as they had a lot more chances. So I asked the boys at half time to put their hand up if they wanted to be player to turn the game around. Not surprising, but all 14 boys put their hand up and came out after half time on fire, kicking 3 goals to 1 point in the third term. We lapsed a little bit for 2 or 3 minutes in the last quarter, but we are able to just stay in front when the final siren sounded. Great game guys, with only two games to go, let’s look forward to South Wantirna on Sunday.

Summary: "What a week! Faced with a possible forfeit with 10 of our list unavailable, the tiger army responded brilliantly to ensure we got on the park. Special thanks to Jett, Billy, Tarran and Morgan for leaving their game early to get to ours for the start, and thanks to Ryan, Dan, Charlie and Gus for backing up after their game. Also big thanks to coaches Waz and Matt and of course Glenn who, as always, helped along the way, and of course the parents who ferried boys around to ensure we got a game ... You are all legends. It was a special day for the team with our co-captains Alex and Tyson playing their 50th games so the boys were pretty pumped. We had the ball forward early but only having 15 to start with proved a bit tough as North Ringwood gradually got hold of us. As the game went on we definitely lead the way in pressure and contested ball, but our opponents were just a bit too slick on the outside. We had lots of chances in a dominant third quarter but unfortunately failed to convert with us getting stuck too deep in the pockets. The terrific thing was the even effort across the board with so many players contributing. The highlight came with just seconds remaining when Tyson crumbed a kick out and snagged a nice goal to have the boys finish on a high. Well done to Toby for winning the medal in another improved effort down back (and insights at the huddle), also to Charlie for also getting a medal on the back of a huge second quarter and a consistent second half effort. Also congratulations to Tarran, Jett, Billy and Morgan for taking away the Two Brothers awards - all four of them played really good footy across the day and showed great spirit."

Mitcham Yellow 0.2-2 V North Ringwood 5.3-33
Summary: Again we were competitive for periods of the game, however we didn't sustain the effort for long enough. We played into the taller Nth Ringwoods hands by kicking down the line to packs instead of trying to take the game on with run and carry. When our backline were disciplined we held up, but when we didn't play on our opponent Nth Ringwood were able to kick goals. Our skipper Mason Porter was great in his 50th game, Jack was tremendous at half back and Henry T played his best game for the season. Will Serong also performed well in his 50th game for the Tigers.
Best Players: Mason Porter, Jack Ewison, Henry Thomson, James Wilson, Heath Fox, Will Serong

Mitcham 3-10-28 V Glen Waverley Rovers 4.1-25
Summary:The Tigers ventured down to Brentwood Reserve Glen Waverley to play an inform Rovers Team. The Rovers jumped out of the blocks with 3 quick goals before we got our hands on the ball. At times we were very wasteful with our ball use, handing the ball back to the opposition to easily. The boys flicked the switch after quarter time. We created opportunities with our run and carry and our contested pressure lifted. By half time we led by 1pt. We controlled most of the second half but were unable to shake the Rovers off with scoreboard pressure. The last quarter was a grind, true finals football. The boys train for these moments, holding onto the ball and not allowing their opponents the ball. Very proud of the effort by the team. With a special mention to Cooper, Luke M, and also to Leo for his match saving smother.
Best Players: Aiden, Peter, Cooper, Lachlan, Hudson, Hamish, Luke M, Ryan M

Summary Meeting your opponents twice & sometimes three times throughout the season can give you time to work out & work through elements of your game to adjust & theirs to take advantage of. Very impressed with our Cubs resolve today. Congrats to Alexi, Ashton, Jenson & Charlie B on their 50 game milestone. Well done boys.

Teams: Mitcham V Blackburn
Summary: Round 12 saw us back at home to take on Blackburn. After a few weeks of getting off to slow starts, it was good to see the boys come out from the first bounce and apply great pressure and have an appetite for the contest. We were communicating well with our teammates and being able to work the ball up the ground through our good skills. The same effort was applied right through until halftime and saw us with a 2 goal lead. Blackburn came out after halftime with a renewed energy and attack on the ball and were able to take a 2 point lead into 3 quarter time. Despite some fantastic efforts and great teamwork, Blackburn was able to hold on to win by 2 points. Special mention to Mackay and Sheraz who both played a great game in their 50th game. Both players are great contributors to the team through their ability to play multiple positions and always give their best efforts not only in games but at training during the week as well. Well done boys!

Mitcham V Ferntree Gully
Summary: Given we had 17 players take the field, it was a pleasing result to achieve a 100 points on the scoreboard and a victory. The boys were asked to play the game like their grand-final, and they did not disappoint. With 2 significant players watching from the boundary; Jamie (concussion) and Declan (broken leg), everyone responded. Our last contest with FTG was a rough affair and the reason behind Jamie being sidelined for the remainder of 2018. Unfortunately Bailey suffered a heavy knock in the 2nd half, from which we hope he will recover quickly from.
Best Players: Ethan Wu, Dom Howell
