Mitcham under 8 Black
Teams: Mitcham Black V Glen Waverley Rovers
SummaryA very even contest today against a good Glen Waverly side. Mitcham had a slow first half by their standards however clearly lifted to dominate the second half. Standouts today were our Encouragement award medal winner and captain of the day Chloe (the Pressure Queen) Linnett who was in everything. She took a great mark to save a goal and shortly after kicked her first goal. It was great to see the entire team run over to her. Well done Chloe. We gave out a second medal today which went to Jake (the Extractor) McConnell. Jake could easily win the medal every week and we noticed today that whenever Jake goes near the ball, Mitcham ends up with it and an opposition player is down. We also gave out two milkshakes today for our players of the week. They went to Austin Loring for a big first quarter and his hard work all day and Ben (the Aviator) D'Costa for great work all over the ground, 1 goal and an absolute hanger that had the crowd on their feet. Archer Howard played well out of the middle today. Liam O ‘Dwyer played well and does his best work in the ruck. Thomas (the Terminator) Coulson played another great game with plenty of the ball and some nice evasive manoeuvres. Michael Bamford keeps getting better each week and is becoming Mr Reliable. Max Lazarus hunted the footy today and cleared the ball from the middle in the first quarter and kicked a goal from the centre square. He also took Mark of the Day for about 10 seconds before kicking it to Ben. Ethan Schutt played well in defence and saved some goals with his desperation. Brody Wolst loves a contest and kicked a nice goal. Brody is always at the bottom of the pack and gives 100%. Ethan Reed was courageous again with a great goal and was hard at it. Cam Walters had leather poisoning today and kicked 2 goals including a beautiful snap from the boundary. Daniel (the Dominator) Sagwan played well and took several nice marks. A good win by the Blacks.
Best Players: Chloe Linnett, Jake McConnell, Austin Loring, Ben D'Costa, Camden Walters, Max Lazarus

Mitcham under 8 Yellow
Teams: Mitcham Yellow V Vermont
Summary:The game was an even contest from start to finish with the days captain Tate Porter leading the way. Great run was provided from the backline through Zack Stanfield, Andy Iero, Lachlan Ferreira and Preston Sleap. Jarrod Palmer and Jake Sleaman competed well across the ground and Max Murphy improved as the game wore on. The team mantra of running the ball and taking on the opposition was working with Jono, Riley, Preston, Seth and Aston creating opportunities that resulted in scores. Excellent defence from Zack, Jarrod, Tate, Andy and Cooper. Again, the team is really improving well each week with several players having their best games including Lachlan Ferreira, Max Murphy and Tate Porter. Well done team and keep it up.

The U'9 Black boys were a little slow to start however, once warmed up and with some great team play from Zac M and Cody F, along with some stong marking from Iggy and Jack we were back in the game. A great goal celabation from Ollie and Harvey showing some great leadership captaining the team for the day. After a long preseason it was a great four quater effort. GO TIGERS

Teams: Mitcham v Blackburn
Summary: Today the Mitcham U9 Yellow team had a hard fought game against a very good side from Blackburn. The conditions were perfect and it was a close game all day. Our boys played fantastic, getting first to the ball and linking up magnificently. The boys are improving each week and our first year players, Sam Miskimmin and Callum Barnes did really well today. Thomas Linnett gave us a lot of run, Billy Love was solid in defence and out of the centre and Riley Bean moved the ball quickly and set it up for us many times with his long kicking. Well done to Lachy Gnatt for kicking a great goal and Sammy Miskimmin nearly kicked two goals. Great work boys. Let's bring that again next week against The Basin boys! A special mention to Callum Barnes and Haydn Maaskant for being awarded the medals and to Darcy Poynter and Riley Bean for winning the Two Brothers awards.
Best Players: Thomas Linnet, Billy Love, Riley Bean, Charlie Orpwood, Callum Barnes, Haydn Maaskant and Cooper Doherty

Teams: Blackburn v Mitcham
Summary: We got off to a very slow start this week, with Blackburn kicking the first two goals and we all thought we had a real game on us. However, the boys dug deep and probably played the best footy for the year for the next three quarters. The most pleasing part this week was our skill level again, really hitting targets by hand and foot, and also our manning up when the opposition had the ball. An inspiring match address by our skipper this week in Ryan McConnell helped us get over the line with another great win. This week we come up against a strong Montrose who will be trying to get revenge for their lightning premiership defeat. Special thank you to Ray Barake for coming across from the Mitcham Black team.

Mitcham under 10 Girls
Teams: Mitcham V Blackburn
Summary: It was a tough, hard fought game that every girl showed that they wanted to win (not that we score). The girls showed resilience and persistence and kept pushing through the warm conditions. Each girl had the challenge of getting at least 3 touches. Some of their team mates that had already reached this goal they were able to help the other girls reach this goal and each person worked for the team.

Mitcham Black 1.0-6 V South Belgrave 10.6-66
Summary: This week saw the boys head out to somewhere is rural Victoria and take on a very impressive South Belgrave side. Signs were good early as we forced the ball forward on a few occasions but unfortunately missed some good opportunities to hit the scoreboard. South Belgrave had some luck with a couple of goals bouncing at right angles but from there they controlled the game as we drifted in and out too much. Our leadership group worked tirelessly but we were outclassed around the contest. Caden Sleap was at his best getting into everything, while Noah, Tyson, Jaylen and Alex worked hard and ran all day. A nice reward for effort came in the last quarter as we moved the ball from coast to coast from a kick-out before Tyson won a free kick 30 metres out following a terrific chase and tackle. Fortunately his long shot carried the pack and we scored our first goal in four weeks.
Best Players: Caden Sleap, Noah Beyar, Tyson Darmody, Alex Parigi, Nay Chol, Jaylen Allen
Goals: Tyson Darmody

Lysterfield 7.9.51 Mitcham 0.1.1
Summary: Today we were completely outplayed by a hungrier and more willing Lysterfield team. Lysterfield put pressure on us at every contest and had some really quick and skillful players that ran hard and broke the lines to get the ball into their forward line quickly and effectively. We had no answers for them today. It seemed the harder we tried, the more the ball would bounce the wrong way. It was one of those days. Fumbles, dropped marks and missed tackles were costly but we never gave up trying.
Best Players: Heath Fox, Mason Porter, William Aujard, Gabriel Gonzalez, Jack Ewison, James Wilson
Mitcham under 12 Girls
Mitcham 3.0.18 v East Ringwood 4.5.29
Summary: We came up against East Ringwood today hoping to avenge our only loss earlier in the year. The girls started very well and were able to get 2 goals up at qtr time. However East Ringwood were up for the challenge and worked their way back into the game over the next 2 qtrs to be 2 goals up at the final break. Our girls kept at it all day, we improved on our accountability from last week, and were able to win the last qtr and hold them goal less in the last. A good even game by both teams played in good spirits, we went down by a goal and half to a quality team. Great goals to Jennifer, Lauren and Savannah, with good defensive work by Charlotte, Stella and the improving Zahra down back. Big shout out to Taya who just keeps improving each week, not just in the ruck, but also her tackling, kicking and marking all getting better each week. We are really pleased with the improvement from all our girls each week and are seeing a more even contribution across the board, the girls are really starting work well as team.
Best Players: Taya, Lauren, Hayley, Charlotte, Stella.

Summary: Back at tiger headquarters 2nd playing 3rd the pressure was on. A number of girls were sick or away with family commitments .In total 6 were unavailable. Our Half backline were standing strong led by our three Ms, Meg, Meagan and Marissa who time and time again repelled attacks with the speed of Maggie the strength of Lucy D and the super strength and strong play from Sienna the girls stood strong. Our on ballers kept hitting the forward while the forwards sprayed the goals. Fantastic efforts from Laniey and Allanah in the ruck you ladies rocked helping our smaller players around the ground. Millie and Lucy O were strong on the wings, while Young Phoebe was in and under the packs, helped by Ali, Jas and the skill of Jess Toch. Our on ballers Jade, Lilly, Grace and Kiara started carving them up with teamwork, gut running and strong play the engine room kicked in. Mitcham under 14
Teams: Mitcham 11.10.76 V East Ringwood 4.6.30
Summary: Round 7 saw us back at our home ground to take on East Ringwood. The first quarter started with 2 great centre clearances that gave us 2 quick goals within the first couple of minutes. It was great to see the boys switched on and ready to go. We applied great pressure, ran in numbers and shared the ball around really well. The second quarter saw a drop in effort and East Ringwood was able to get back in the game before halftime. At halftime the coaches challenged the boys to stay focused and apply the effort they did in the first quarter for the whole second half. They responded perfectly with 8 goals to 2 goals to finish off the game. Alwyn, Boothy, and Mac attacked the ball in defence. Jack, Damo, Austin, Mason and Joel pressured the opposition relentlessly through the midfield. JP, Jasper, Jules and Mackay kept presenting and creating opportunities for us to score up forward. It was great to see the boys get some reward for their effort and even better to hear them sing the song after the game.
Best Players: Austin, Connor, Damo, Jack, Joel, JP, Mac,
Goals: JP 4, Joel 2, Austin, Connor, Dan T., Jasper Tonnam
Mitcham under 15
Mitcham 2.10.22 V Knox 5.10.40
Summary: We had the luxury of an interchange of 3, which is a step in the right direction; with 4 more players yet to return. The player rotation worked well. Once again the defences were our strength, with Knox recording their lowest score for the season. This is becoming a feature of our games; most opposition so far have had their lowest score against Mitcham U15. We need growth in intensity and power in the forward half to match our defenders' success. Another test looms large this Sunday when we take on the division's yard stick; Lysterfield.
Best Players: Jamie Ross, Sam Balman,
Goals: Lucas (1), Ethan Wu (1)

Mitcham V Glen Waverley Rovers
Summary:The under 16 girls took on the Glen Waverley Rovers in this round. The girls were looking forward to playing in the last of the four girls games at Walker Park. While the girls didn’t come away with a win the tackling pressure and their willingness to try to take the game on was first rate for the whole game. Their efforts against the second placed team was brilliant was to be applauded. Big thanks to Jade, Steph and Megan from the under 14’s for helping out with Jade winning one of our awards for her efforts. Our other award went to our captain Jess who was fantastic right from the start yesterday. She was in everything and played a brilliant captains game.
