Under 8 Yellow by Craig Love (Coach)
Today we played Kilsyth at Quambee Reserve in good conditions. The boys had some great passages of play, sharing the ball, using their voices, being first to the ball, applying great pressure along with some great goal celebrations. Well done to Ruben for kicking his first goal for the season! Riley, Thomas and Haydn kicked some nice goals on the run and shared the ball on many occasions. Billy kicked a nice goal for the opposition. Well done Billy, Cooper and Darcy for helping out Kilsyth with numbers - Great sportsmanship shown by the three of you!
Under 9 Yellow by Josh McConnell (Coach)
U9 Yellow took on East Ringwood at their home ground lead by our Captain of today Ryan McConnell, in what was poised to be a tough contest. The Tigers were switched on from the first bounce today, which was a change from previous weeks. Our centre players in the first half, played amazing games from start to finish and really gave our team first use of the ball. This saw us kick a heap of goals, with some players kicking their first this season. Our forwardline was always in front and our backline was a solid wall no matter who played in defense. We saw a heap of run and carry, and great linking by hand-passes by all our players. The kids have really turned the corner in understanding the game, their positions and what we are trying to achieve from what we do at training and brining that in a game. Today's Two Brothers award went to 3 of our smallest and youngest players. They had a red hot go today as they do at training. The first award went Lucas Hays in his first game back after some time out for injury. It was great to his endeavor and excitement to be back on the ground with his mates. The other two award went to two of toughest competitors in Jack and Jake with the former bagging a goal today which was great to see. Both these boys train hard and are really keen on getting their skills right and are progressing into really keen, hard footballers even though their opposing players are sometimes three times the size of them. Great game Jake and Jack. Our Mitcham Medal for Player of today went to Josh Dakic. Although Josh played a great game with many possessions and silky smooth passes to teammates, it was his ability to listen to the coaches instruction, in staying in the position in the backline (which he was not happy about) that won him the Medal. Great work Josh. East Ringwood played a really great brand of football with a never stop trying attitude which was fantastic to see. East Ringwood presented a medal to one of our Tigers who was their player of the day. As East Ringwood's Coach said, "this player was all over the ground, never stopped trying, kicked goals, took marks in defense, and passed by hand and foot really well to his teammates in better positions" which is why he won the medal. This player was Charlie Wilson. Great game Charlie. Our coaching panel also presented a medal to an East Ringwood's player we felt played the best and in the spirit of the game, This player was one of their Captains, number 3, Sid. Well played Sid and well played to all the boys from both teams. The Tigers song was sung with great gusto today, and rightly so!! Great game guys and well played to all as it was a real team effort today, with many doing exceptional things. Go Tigers!!
Under 10 Black by Peter Ajani (Coach)
Mitcham Black U10 played Montrose at home. Lead by Gus And Shannon the boys played in fantastic weather conditions. We started the game with great attack on the ball, backing up our great effort at training. First quarter ended with a couple of points each. Second quarter we started a bit slower and Montrose kicked two goal to get a good lead but the boys fought back to get within a goal at half time. The third quarter saw the boys bring their A game and notwithstanding the 2 goals to nothing it was an overall dominate team effort. In the last quarter the boys dominated every contest to finish off well.
Best: Pat, LeBron, Noah and the rest of the team.
Well played against a pretty good team!

On a great day for footy we took on east Ringwood at Walker park. Another strong team who had only had 2 goals kicked against them all season. We started slowly and just looked a little off pace. We weren't accountable enough in the backline or through the midfield for most of the game. Our usual effort wasn't there. Our last quarter was better and we out scored them, but 1 quarter of good footy doesn't cut it. We need 4 quarters of that effort each game as it showed our best is good enough to match it with the better teams.
Under 10 Girls by Luke Watters (Asst. Coach)
Darren had the week off so I filled in today as Coach. This week Heidi was Captain and Abigail was Vice Captain. It was a great game today. The girls gave their all and I was really impressed the games of Erin, Heidi and as always Maeve. Mauve also won the medal from East Ringwood. It was very hard to choose our award but we gave it to Erin as her run with the ball all day was impressive. Heidi also played a great game, always at the bottom of the pack and some big runs of her own. It was a very pleasing game to watch and the girls were confident in what they were doing. Thank you to East Ringwood for giving us five players to top up our team. I wanted those girls to play in the backline so all our girls had a good run in the centre and the forward lines. Thanks to Ruby and Matt Schneider (Under 12 Girls coaches), as well as Craig Giles for coming along to support the girls this morning. The players and parents really appreciate it!
Under 11 by Brad Aujard (Coach)
Today saw, Leo Gigliuto, Luca Orsini, Rory Hume and Will Aujard play their 50th games against a very physical Glen Waverley Hawks at Walker Park, it was the top of the table clash which had plenty of feeling in it. The tigers were held scoreless for the first half, which was a first for the season, however our defence held up just allowing the solitary point through. The first 5 minutes of the third term saw the boys fly out of the blocks kicking two unanswered goals led by Lachie and Hamish in the midfield. It was great to come away with a very hard fought win, well done Tigers.
Goals: Aiden and Sam
Best: Sam, Luca, Hamish and Lachlan

The task at hand v Sth Belgrave needed a massive effort from all the lads. With 4 of our best players out the focus was on output and pressure. Once again they answered the call with inaccuracy being our only issue. We want to be defined by our pressure & these u12 are certainly making that happen. Congrats to Ozzie, Samo, Xav & Stevo on their Milestone 50 games and a big thanks to Griff, Tynan and Sasha for stepping up from the Under 11’s t o help us out today.

Unfortunately we were out classed today. We were beaten by a better team, but although we lost, we are still 4th on the ladder and today showed me that they boys still have determination as they fought the game out well. It was great seeing Conner on the field today. He played an outstanding game. I look forward to seeing him develop as the season goes on. Mackay had his best game of the season with a courageous mark. Mackay when he gets the ball now is showing a lot of improvement with his decision making and skills. Denzell today showed how a forward should play with his great pressure and second and third efforts. Patrick P had a turn up forward today and he also had his best game for the year. His attack on the ball was good and its pleasing to see him improving week on week.
Goals: Conner 2, Jack 1, Denzell 1.

Under perfect weather at Walker Park the U14's took on the top of the ladder Waverely Blues. A much improved 4 quarter effort today saw the team being very competitive all game. Being down by only 20 points late in the third quarter reflected our endeavour and attack on the ball. Unfortunately again basic skill errors let the opposition off the hook and allowed them some easy goals late in the game. I'm sure if we keep working hard at training on the basics we can be continue to improve.
Best Players: Ethan Wu, Declan, Alex, Pat, Adlai, Callum Sullivan
Goals: Ethan Wu 3, Alex 1, Callum Mead 1, Declan 1
Final Score: Waverley Blues 12.14.86 d Mitcham 6.4.40
Under 14 Girls by Leigh Walters (Coach)
The under 14 girls played Bayswater at Koonung Reserve. The girls were looking forward to getting back on the winners list after a couple of losses in a row. It was a tight tussle all game with the margin never been greater than a couple of goals. The girls were prepared to run and carry the ball and to take the game on and use our pace to our advantage. It was great to Stephanie play her best game and get back to the form that she displayed last season. It was a great team performance and it was also great to see all the girls try to put into practice the drills that we were doing on Friday night. Thanks also to Charlotte and Meg for playing in the under 14’s.
Better players Stephanie, Olivia, Marissa, Maddy and Meg.
Under 15 by John Adcroft (Coach)
Lets focus on the positives for today’s game. Our second half was much better than the first. There were some passages of play that were absolutely sensational. I firmly believe that our team can not only win games but win convincingly. The boys just need to believe in themselves as well. On Wednesday evening I have arranged a special treat for the lads - more to follow. Best on Ground - George; you were asked to maintain arms distance, play in front and spoil the ball from the opposition. You did this outstandingly. Your effort and courage was sensational to watch. Ethan - the silent warrior!! I love the fact that you are unstoppable and often giving second and third efforts for the ball. Dom - kicked a sensational goal.

Today we took on Sth Belgrave at home on a fantastic winters day. Knowing that last time we met they defeated us in a tight game and we were after revenge. We knew that if we played well as a team we could defeat them but it would take a full team effort to get across the line. I asked the boys to come out and apply pressure from the first bounce and don’t let them have any run at it until the final siren. Sure enough the boys came out firing and were really aggressive at the contest, not letting Sth Belgrave win the tight ball. When we got our hands on it we used the ball well putting it into the hands of the player who was open. We ran hard to make space and that was evident on the scoreboard. The turnaround was when Sth Belgrave had the ball our defence held strong and our mids pushed back to help out when needed. The defence was so strong, they almost held the opposition scoreless up until half time. Throughout the first half it was so enjoyable to watch not only our boys in defence but how our forwards kept their area open and allowed our main targets to work in the space and when the ball came to ground our small fleet of forwards pounced on each opportunity. It was great to watch and I think Sth Belgrave were shell shocked at our intensity. The game was well and truly ours at half time as long as we maintained that drive. After the main break we continued our intensity but we became a little wayward with our kicking for goal, which n a way lefty the door open for the opposition. They did have a fair crack at trying to peg back the deficit, but we continued to stop their drive, even though they outscored us at times. It was a great effort from all the boys involved and it takes us one step closer to the double chance come finals. That is the aim for now. Great 4 quarter efforts from a lot of players today especially Cam Pirzas, Pows, Maxxy, Stinga, Adrian, Jules and Gilesy. Great effort Boys, Go Tiges!!!!!
