U8 Mitcham Yellow
Today we played Mooroolbark at Quambee Reserve. They were the best opposition we have come up against to date. We settled in well after the first 2 quarters and got first to the ball in the second half. Thank you to Mooroolbark for lending us players each quarter. Well-done boys. Don't forget team photos on Wednesday night. Well-done Tigers!
Best: Riley, Blake, Cooper, Billy and Thomas
U9 Mitcham Black
Perfect conditions at Walker Park on Sunday morning to see a tight game between two great clubs. Led by Hamish our captain today the Tigers got off to their usual slow start conceding the first couple of goals to a determined East Ringwood. From the second quarter on, we dominated the clearances from the centre and East Ringwood could not find a way of moving the ball past our back 6. Josh played defence for most of the game and his endeavour at the ball was second to none. As such all the coaches determined that Josh would win the medal for best on ground today
Goals: Rishi, Archer, Mason, Roy
Best: Josh, Tarran, Chris, Harrison and Marco
Under 9 Yellow
U9 Yellow played a great game in slippery conditions against Norwood at their home ground. In this round 3 match our captain was Oscar Tribolet. Oscar had a fantastic game topped off by a great snap and goal in the last quarter. All our players had a real crack today and showed great endeavour to be the first to ball and play in front which saw a pile of goals for the boys. Norwood played a great brand of football and were deadly in front of goal. The Two Brothers Vouchers this week went to Charlie Cruise for his attack on the football through the whole game, Josh Dakic for being first in on many occasions and creating some great plays and Charlie Wilson for great overhead marking and run across the ground. The Mitcham Medal today was awarded to Noah Quinlian for his consistent running into space and presenting, pressure on the opposition and for always handballing and bringing his teammates into the game.
Another great game by all the boys! Go Tigers!
Under 10 Mitcham Black
Mitcham Black under 10 went into the lightening premiership with high expectations. Despite several key players being away and a couple carrying nagging injuries I expected the boys to do well. Our first game saw us go down to Easter Lions by a goal. They were able to get a goal in the first half and despite the boys best efforts we were just not able to get a goal. The second against Forest Hill game the boys were asked to lift and they really put in a higher intensity game, scoring first - a point which could have easily been a goal. Then Forest Hill got their only score for the game and despite several attempts to get a goal smothers off the boot the boys could not get that elusive goal to go down by 5 points. Our third game was against Scoresby and the boys realised they just need to get a goal and goals did come with LeBron getting his first with Jesse and Gus scoring two goals. A much improved game by the boys. Our final game was against an under manned South Belgrave. The boys dominated from start to finish winning most contest and kicking 4 nice goals. The boys really missed a great opportunity to win the lightening premiership but with only two goals scored against them in four games there is plenty to look forward to.
Under 10 Mitcham Yellow
In great conditions we had our lightning premiership at Pinks Reserve. With a full complement of players to choose from we took on some pretty formidable opponents in Rowville, Blackburn, East Ringwood and Waverley Blues. We usually pride ourselves on getting first to the ball and getting the ball out in space for our mosquito fleet to run and carry. However the confined spaces didn't allow for this and we got "out bossed" in close. We did show some fighting spirit in all of our matches however we couldn't break through with a win. We keep learning, we keep working hard and we keep together moving forward. Thanks to all families from yellow and black who made the day still enjoyable.
Under 11
Today the Under 11’s played their round three clash against the top of the table Vermont Purple at Livingston Primary. Again, like the last 2 weeks the boys dominated majority of the first quarter however we squandered our shots on goal, allowing Vermont to kick the first goal, when finally we decided to hit the scoreboard we finished with 1.1. The second quarter saw us kicking 2 majors and 6 behinds. The third quarter kicking straight was a priority posting 3 goals, the last quarter saw our midfield and backline stand strong being able to outlast Vermont and their constant forward pressure. It’s fantastic to have Samuel back at the Tigers and looking forward to unleashing a well-rested Felix next week against Wantirna South Green. It was a great team game from the boys, Well done Tigers!
Goals: Aiden 2, Ryan O, Samuel, Rory and Hamish
Best Players: Luke F, Luke M, Daniel, Aiden and Evan
Final Score: Mitcham 6.6.42 to Vermont 2.0.12.

Today we faced Croydon on the pristine Deck at Mitcham. Playing a Croydon team that was in B grade last year was always going to be a task. Hard and tough all day with skill in their forward line the difference. No lack of heart & guts in this team. Bring on next week!
Best: Lachlan C, Oscar, Liam. Lachlan D. Xavier.
Final Score: Croydon 7.8.50 d Mitcham 1.4.10
Under 12 Girls
In a tough game against Lilydale the girls had their first draw! Although the final score was only 12 points each, the whole day was close and stressful and we were never sure who was going to win. Sienna had a great run in the second half and with her defensive pressure and running helped save the game for us. Amber's manned up to perfection, Mathilda Anderson had plenty of the footy throughout the day and made good use of it. Special mention also to Hannah, who did a ripper tackle and was awarded a free kick. Lilydale were a good match for our team and really put our skills to the test. Over all it was a great fight by all the girls involved including the Lilydale girls.

Congratulations to all the boys today on a fantastic win. East Ringwood tested our intent to win the ball but like good sides do, we worked hard and broke down the opposition to come away with the win. In the first quarter, we played some good footy with some quick movement into the forward line, but in the second quarter we lost our way a little. After half time out mid-field lifted winning plenty of footy around the ground providing a lot of drive into the forward line. The forwards fought hard all day. Denzell was dangerous up forward and always looked dangerous when he went near the ball. Down back Fletcher was instrumental in rebounding the ball back allowing our mids to win easy possession. Really pleased today with how the boys set up the zone in the second half and their wonderful work rate to not let the ball out of the forward line. Damon did a great job in the ruck today. Its great seeing him have an impact around the ground. Again it was the 1 percenters and believing in our game plan what got us over the line today. It’s not about who wins most of the footy, but it’s the hard chasing like Liam did, and the great tackles we often see from Dan N and sticking to our structures. Put all the 1 percenters together with great team work and that makes us hard to beat.
Goals: James 3, Denzell 1, Dan T 1, JP 1.
Final Score: Mitcham 6.3 .39 d East Ringwood White 5.7.37

The U14's hosted Croydon at Walker Park for our 1st home game of the season. Unfortunately injuries to key players during the week left us a little undermanned. The boys fought hard all game with a number of boys lifting and possibly playing their best game for Mitcham. The final score does not reflect the effort and desire the boys put in and I'm sure with a little luck and further hard work at training a positive result is just around the corner.
Best: Wil Drake, Dom, Ethan Miller, Adlai, Alex, Luke Doidge
Goals: Dom 2
Final Score: Croydon 14.18.102 d Mitcham 2.5.17
Under 14 Girls
The under 14 girls played Blackburn at Koonung reserve this week. Unfortunately Blackburn were the dominant side for the first three quarters but to the girls credit they fought back in the last quarter to stem the scoring opportunity from Blackburn and played their best quarter in the past two games. All the girls tried their best but are finding it hard playing against teams that are made up of girls that have been playing for a couple of seasons.
Best: Olivia, Marissa, Jazmyn, Riley

It’s fair to say that we did not start well. The first half the boys seemed flat and at times reverted back to playing pack footy. We let the opposition run over the top of us and quite a few goals were given easily. At the half time break the boys regrouped. The difference was amazing! The endeavour for the ball was extraordinary and we witnessed some quality (and brave) gameplay. Whilst we didn’t win the game, the improvement in the boys is noticeable. Each week we continue to grow and develop, eventually the spoils of our efforts will come our way. Best players today were: Kyle (Best on ground) - showed great courage all game, never gave up!! Looking forward to seeing your footy develop during the season. Rylan - speed and determination - great effort today (stay off those bikes!!). Harrison - Your second half was the best I’ve seen you play all year! Keep up the hard work. Sam - Some amazing tackles and great game play. Riley - I gave you a job to do and you exceeded expectations - well done!!

T’was a balmy Autumn afternoon the Sun hung lazily in the western sky as the Tigers boarded the Country bound steam train, our destination, the gorgeous county hamlet of Coldstream. As is our want we arrived early and helped the farmer remove his heard of Holstein Friesian beauties from the oval and onto the banks of the idyllic billabong and watched on in wonder as the weather worn farmer resplendent on his stead urged the heard toward the hills and home to milk. A new challenge, not having played against our opponents before, what followed was as interesting a under 16 girls game as I have seen, the Worawa Eagle Hawks from Coldstream via Healesville a highly skilled team of indigenous lasses, we were completely at a loss to explain what happened next. The Eagle Hawks had 3 girls over 6 feet tall. Not wanting to ask for a Birth Certificate check I was surprised to hear the back pocket call the ruckman mum and another, asking teammates, if they needed a lift home as she had just got her full driving licence. Our girls played well, AlanaBanana , The Princess, Bluey, The Midget , Cayleigh(Racehorse) and our resident space cadet Emma(2 goals) were best, congrats to Soph on her first game a great debut and things will only get better.
We won by 3 or 4 goals. We look forward to heading back to the big smoke for our next game vs Norwood away once again.
Under 17
Today the under 17’s took on Sth Croydon and not having played them before, we weren’t sure what to expect. The team was short of a few players through injury and players had to be moved around to give us balance around the ground. At the start of the game the boys came out with the intensity expected and raced away to a handy lead. The forwards were working well into space with the delivery up the ground hitting their targets and being lead well by our new CHF Cam Pirzas who ended up with four goals as well as handing off a few too. The boys didn’t falter with their attack on the ball, with Jaydos and Timmy leading the way through the middle. Our rucks were instrumental in giving us first use, which was great to see. Well done Benny and Fin. The defence was Impenetrable, led well by Tommy, Max and Spitter. By Half time we had a huge lead which allowed the coaches to move players around and give everyone maximum time on the ground. By the end of the last quarter we had taken the foot off the pedal, which allowed Sth Croydon to score, but by then the game was over. Well done to all players today, but a couple of players were standouts. Jaydos, Spitter, Timmy, Jules, and Cam Pirzas were instrumental in our big win today. Well-done boys.
Go Tiges!!!!
