THE TOUR STORY of 2003 as told BRILLIANTLY by Cam
There has been much discussion over the past couple of weeks about the
future direction of The President's Men tour. This was of course
precipitated by the attempted resignation of our esteemed President.
A couple of points here:
* Wombat only wrote what he felt and he decided that the general purpose of
The President's had been lost over the years in the pursuit of playing
better courses.
* All the correspondence from the other member's since have been in full
support of the sentiments expressed by the Bat Man.
* Nick had put together a fantastic schedule of courses for this year's tour
based solely on the opinions expressed by the member's of last years tour.
* The strength of opinion is solidly in favour of redesigning the 2003-4 TPM
tour.
It is here that I would like to thank Nick and apologize to him in the one
breath. It is not an easy thing to do and he has put a heap of work into
selecting the courses for this years tour. The tour has, however been scaled
back to six tournaments. The courses and dates are attached. We have in
fact, kept four of the original bookings. What we have cut out are the trips
to the Peninsula. There is of course, the opportunity for individual
member's of The President's to get together outside of the structured tour
for a social round of golf at any time over the summer months at the better
Peninsula courses. I, for one, am interested in either the 07/02 at The
Schank or the 28/02 at Eagle Ridge. These will not be officially sanctioned
tour events. I think a November weekend might be good too but not the 15th.
That night is my 40th party and all you blokes will be out shopping for a
present to give me. Book the babysitters now.
Rick Foley has also altered the format for the games to try and add some
spice and variety to this year's tour. He has also added some social aspects
including a Family Christmas BBQ at Jell's Park after the Kingston Links
round. A fantastic initiative Rick. I think it would be great to get the
wives and kids together. God knows we've got enough of them now. Plus having
chicks around gives Sweens someone to hate of he's had a bad round.
The cost for this year's tour will probably be scaled back to something like
$250.
My last duty of this correspondence is to welcome back Wombat as President.
As I explained to him on the phone, there is no need to put this to a vote
as he offered his resignation and it has been overwhelmingly rejected by the
people. You have never officially been out of the chair Batter.
As usual, comments and opinions welcomed.
