REGISTRATIONS NOW CLOSED

The WBA has a very strict and structured tryout process designed to give all players a fair opportunity to be selected. To understand our process and tryout structure please ensure you have read the following documents:

  1. Tryout Information Pack
  2. Player Selection Policy
  3. Tryout Exemption Policy
  4. Coach Appointment Policy

All of the above policies can be found at the following link: POLICIES LINK

TO REGISTER FOR TRIALS:

To tryout for a Joondalup Wolves State Champs / WABL Team, players need to register. The link to register in PlayHQ can be found here: REGISTRATIONS CLOSED!

If a player will be unable to make one or more of the tryout sessions, and still wish to make a team, they need to apply for an exemption for that absence. Please review the Tryout Exemption Policy found in the Policies Link above. Then, to apply for an exemption, find the link to the form here: TRYOUT EXEMPTION FORM

PLAYER INFO:

  1. Players trying out are required to arrive 30 minutes prior to all sessions to sign in. During the sign in process the players will have a number written on their arm and leg.

  2. Players will have a headshot photo taken - this will only be used internally during team selections to identify the player and will not be shown publicly.

  3. Players MUST bring a reversible or light and dark t-shirt.

  4. Players are NOT permitted to wear state or representative attire of ANY association to tryouts (domestic attire is permitted). This is to ensure a fair and open tryout process, with all athletes (representative or domestic) given the same opportunity without there being any perceived bias towards existing WABL players.

  5. Players must bring a water bottle.

  6. Players must bring a basketball with their name clearly written on it - the WBA and associated staff take no responsibility for lost basketballs.

GENERAL INFO:

  1. Tryouts are closed to parents and spectators.

  2. Only approved coaches are permitted to enter the playing areas.

  3. Participants are guaranteed two rounds of trials as cuts will be made between rounds 2 & 3

  4. Invitations for rounds 3 & 4 will be announced on the WBA website.

  5. These tryouts are for both State Champs & WABL (there will be no separate tryouts for WABL. If you do not intend to play WABL in 2024 - do not attend these tryouts).
