The day started with the news that shook the Football World about match fixing allegations from the VPL. For me it ended on a more positive note after recording a thrilling contest between Drouin Dragons and Phillip Island Breakers to decide the winner of the South Gippslands Soccer Grand Final.
The match may not be leading the world in standards but the buzz and excitement was still there. The two clubs gave it their all, the crowd was brilliant and the weather could not have been better. There was even a women dressed as a Dragon!!! Brilliant stuff.
The match itself started slow but just got better and better as the drama unfolded. I will not give too much more away as watching the video is the better way to explain all the excitement that came in the final minutes.
To all a Drouin Dragons and Phillip Island, well done to both clubs you showed that even though you may not have the skills from players in the VPL and league alike, you showed in this case you have more heart and passion for this game than some. You both showed each other and the game respect that at times is getting harder to find.
To the world, this game may not be the headlines, for me the above reason is why I love doing what I do. I look forward to hopefully seeing these two clubs in the years to come.
