The Battle of Britain Cup
On Sunday the oldest trophy in Victorian soccer "The Battle of Britain Cup" is up for grabs at LCSS in Morwell.
The final pits Churchill United vs Sale United in what promises to be a hotly contested match.
In the league season it was a win apiece (Sale 2-0 at home, Churchill 1-0 at home) and with this being just Sale's second appearance in a BBC final (they were runner up in 2003) expect a lot of passion from the Swans.
For Churchill this will be BBC final appearance number 8. After failing at their first two attempts in 1978 and 1993 the Rams saluted in 1998, 2005, 2006, 2007 and are the current holders with 2012 success.
Both sides match up well with a similar combination of tall timber, hard nuts and silky smooth ball players. The aerial battle between Swans target man Jon Pifke and Rams defender Jamie Robson will be a highlight along with the battle for midfield supremacy with Ashley Ross andTommy Nguyen for Sale versing Taylor Jackson and Matthew Maselli and company for Churchill.
Sale made their way through to the final with wins over Traralgon Olympians and Fortuna whilst the Rams did it the hard way defeating top four teams Monash and Moe United.
One thing’s for sure at 3pm Sunday at Falcons Park in Morwell the Battle is on!

- Traralgon City face Fortuna in the Steel Youth Cup at 1pm
- Churchill United vie for 4 Browne-Huizer Women's Trophies on the trot when they face Tyers Lightning at 11am
-Churchill United and Fortuna play off for the Reserves Shopwell Trophy at 9am
