BDAFA Goes Pink in June

This season a number of teams are wearing pink as part of their playing strip in support of the McGrath Foundation. To help them raise awareness of their fundraising and of breast cancer, the BDAFA Website will sport pink highlights for the month of June.

Bankstown Sports Strikers donated $600 to the McGrath Foundation this season. In turn, all of their Ladies' teams, represented in Grades 12, 14, 16 and 18, are wearing pink socks in all matches. When Strikers host ladies' games at the Crest, the girls will be actively engaged in collecting extra donations in pink buckets to further assist the Foundation.

Strikers Life Member, Perry Ergos, explained that this was an initiative to make young ladies aware of womens' health problems. "A sporting Club is the centre of the community" he said. "We have had young players lose their mums or dads, and last season a mum left 3 young children behind. It is an issue that we do not talk about but it is a reality, so maybe by making people more aware firstly young ladies would understand that their are health problems and secondly and very importantly kids who have lost a parent will have understanding people their age to talk about this issue rather then being scared of what to say."

Yagoona Lions FC is proud to announce in 2012 it will be participating in the McGrath Foundation 'Pull on Your Socks' campaign during June to raise money to support breast cancer nurses across Australia. The Foundation also increases breast cancer awareness in young Australian women.

The Club will be raising funds for the Foundation and three of the Yagoona Lions teams (Premier League One, All Age Ladies and U14s Ladies ) will be wearing pink socks during June in their attempt to increase breast cancer awareness. Yagoona Lions has also made a significant change to the club logo for this period.

Yagoona Lions wishes to advise that Sunday 17 June 2012 will be the Official Pink Socks Ladies Day at O'Neill Park.  Click here for details.

The Club released a media statement saying "We are looking forward to helping out such a good cause. We encourage all players, parents, supporters and the general community of Yagoona to come and support us as together we Aim to Make a Difference".
