Yagoona Lions Football Festival
With the 2012 season upon us, Yagoona Lions hosted its first ever Football Festival as a pre-season warm up to next weeks season openers for all grades except Premier League 1 who have already commenced their competition. The day saw over 20 games played against visiting teams North Bankstown, Bankstown Sports Strikers, St Christophers, Condell Park and Broadmeadow Magic.
The day was a huge success with over 1200 players, parents and supporters streaming through the gates of O'Neill Park to witness history being made for the Yagoona Club and they were not disappointed. The games ranged from Grade 6 to Premier League as well as a number of exhibition games between visiting clubs. Yagoona Premier League Division 1 were the highlight of the day playing newcomers to the competition Condell Park who played admirably but eventually going down to the Yagoona squad 4-2 in Reserves and 2-1 in First Grade.
Reports back to yagoonalionsfc.com were all positive with everyone looking forward to the next Festival.
Yagoona would like to thank BDAFA, Norths, Strikers, Saints, Condell Park and especially Broadmeadow Magic who made the journey from Newcastle. Thanks also to the Bankstown Referees who from all reports enjoyed the run and not forgetting the many players, parents, coaches, managers and volunteers who made the day a great success.
