The Football Federation Victoria Geelong season came to a head over the weekend with the Grand Finals for each division being held at Banyul Warri Reserve in Torquay.

Twelve teams contested Grand Finals covering Girls’ Under 13 and 17 age groups as well as Boys’ Under 12, 13, 15 and 17 age groups.

Corio Bay were the most successful club winning two Grand Finals while Breakwater Eagles appeared in the more than any other club, though they were unlucky to lose all three.

Saturday kicked off with arguably the most exciting match of the weekend in the Under 13 Girls’ Grand Final. After trailing Surfside Waves 1-0, Surf Coast scored twice in the final five minutes to snatch the victory.

North Geelong defeated Geelong Rangers 4-0 in the Under 12 Boys’ Grand Final, with both teams demonstrating a lot of skill on the ball in what is a positive sign for the future of football in the region.

Corio Bay defeated Breakwater Eagles twice over the weekend, with 4-0 the result in the Under 13 Boys’ Grand Final and 3-1 the final score after extra time in the Under 15 Boys’ Grand Final. A special mention to Mark Czyzewski, who according to Corio Bay members was fully responsible for ensuring that Corio Bay fielded teams all season.

Kardinia needed extra time to overcome Surfside Waves 3-1 in the Under 17 Girls’ Grand Final and 3-1 was also the score in the Under 17 Boys’ Grand Final where Geelong upset League Winners Breakwater Eagles.
