Surfcoast 6 Barwon Heads 0

With gale force winds, nearly powerful enough to send Dorothy back to Oz, Surf Coast took to the field. The yellow and blue dominated the first 20 minutes of the game starting out by landing a bobble of a goal just 10 minutes in. Surf Coast held possession for the larger part of the time and managed to find the back of the net once more before the half. However, as the whistle drew nearer, surf coast lost form, which allowed Barwon Heads their first shots of the match.Half time chat from Coach James brought a needed focus to the game and put Surf Coast in check. Soon enough they were back to dominating the game – solid passes through midfield, good use of the wings, fancy footwork in the box, and four more goals added to the SCFC scoreboard. Even with the majority of possession, it was no walk in the park for the Surf Coast defense. Their swift efforts were crucial in securing the shutout by closing down some very aggressive counter attacks by Barwon Heads SC.
Men's Div 1 summary:

Barwon 4 - 2 Geelong Rangers

Barwon hosted last years champions for their first home game of the season with 6 first team players unavailable due to injury, suspension and work commitments. Rangers started strongly and soon took a deserved lead but this only acted as the kick up the backside that Barwon required and they soon took control with goals from Ian Nichols and Danny Conte securing a 2 - 1 half time lead for Barwon. The second half continued as much of the first with the Rangers GK being the star performer, however 2 goals from the half time substitute Campbell Edwards and an own goal secured a deserved 4 - 2 victory to Barwon. A good team effort (less the first 15 mins) with Alex Kelly, Craig Stewart and Robbie Theyer picking up the MVP points.

Lara 1 - 1 Breakwater

Sundays clash between Lara and breakwater finished in an entertaining 1-1 draw which really could of gone either way.
The first half was a stale mate at 0-0 with both teams creating chances but unable to convert them.
The second half saw a great long ball by Stevo Ostojic caught the Lara keeper and defence in two minds and jack Wilson took advantage with a great header to put breakwater 1-0 up. Lara started to create chances looking for the equalizer with Kieron Moore and Damien Nasta both having chances. With 15 minutes to go a corner found it's way to kieron Moore who managed to fire through a group of players into the corner to make it 1-1. Some desperate defending by both sides saw the score stay at 1-1 although Moore had a chance from a Richard gartner long ball but put his chance wide.
At the end of the day a share if the points was a fair result for both teams.
