Hi there,
My name's Thomas, I'm a 15-year-old school student from Melbourne, Australia.
I am apart of a youth organisation called Reporters' Academy, which was originally founded in Manchester, England. The new division of Reporters' Academy (or 'RA') in Melbourne has been running for approximately 6 months now. Over that time we have learnt the skills involved with journalism and reporting, in order to produce high-quality media material.
We are very excited to be a part of the 2011 Pacific Games, and more important, some of the ONLY reporters reporting in English in this year's games! I've been lucky enough to have the opportunity to select my own sport to report on for the games - tennis.
I took the opportunity to become part of the Reporters' Academy because I believe it will broaden my horizons and teach me valuable skills in journalism and media. Despite not having a very strong passion for sport, I still feel that joining Reporters' Academy will highly benefit me and provide me with unique experiences that I cannot gain anywhere else.
My personal interests involve environmentalism and animal welfare, as well as indiginous community rights. If you're interested in this topic, feel free to view my website: www.saynotopalmoil.com
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy this year's Games!
Cheers,
Thomas King.
