The Morwell Basketball Association runs both a junior and senior basketball competition for all ages and abilities at Latrobe Leisure Centre Morwell.

Our Junior Competition is held on a Monday night and is open to all girls and boys of all ages from Under 10's through to 18's.  Our Senior competition is held on a Thursday night and new players and teams are always welcome.

Junior Domestic Age Groups

2024 Winter Season -  May 2024 to September 2024

U10    Born in - 2015 or 2016

U12    Born in - 2013 or 2014

U14    Born in - 2011 or 2012

U16    Born in - 2009 or 2010

U18    Born in - 2007 or 2008

Mini Magic

Morwell Basketball also offer our Mini Magic basketball program for the younger kids wanting to learn basic basketball skills in a fun and friendly environment before progressing into competition teams. The Mini Magic program is an 8 to 10 week period from the start of each new season.

Registration Guide for Participants

PlayHQ

Fee structure

The Morwell Basketball Association register individually (directly to a team for Seniors and to the Association for Juniors). Basketball Victoria's Yearly Affiliation fee is paid directly to Basketball Victoria at the point of registration. This results in a more transparent and affordable fee structure as participants will only need to pay their Affiliation fee once when they register per 365-day period, irrespective of how many teams or Associations they play in – it’s all in the one PlayHQ profile.

The individual Basketball Victoria affiliation/licence fees are as follows (when registering to any 2024 Winter comptetition):

• $43 p.p – Adult / Senior (18 or over)
• $29 p.p – Child / Junior (17 and under) 

Morwell Basketball Registration fee

Juniors (17 and under) = $70.00/season ($10 discount for each subsequent child) 

Seniors (18 and Over) = $80.00/season – (Juniors playing a 2nd game as part of a Senior team need only pay the $25.00 2nd game fee)  

NOTE: From January 1, 2024 there is also an annual fee of $5 charged per player by Basketball Australia as a Game Development Levy. 

 

Basketball Victoria Affiliation

For participants, affiliation with Basketball Victoria includes:

• Personal Player/Accident insurance
• Affiliation with Basketball Victoria and Basketball Australia
• Opportunity to participate in all Basketball Victoria sanctioned leagues, events and competitions.
• Opportunity to participate in education, training, seminars, courses & clinics.
• Participation and eligibility for state team / development programs.
• Ability to manage their own basketball experience.
• Commercial partner benefits.

The process to register is very simple, just set up a PlayHQ profile by visiting https://www.playhq.com/signup 

(You will need to have access to your emails as PlayHQ will send you a verification code in an email that must be entered to complete your profile)

You can then complete your own (senior) and/or your Child’s (Junior) registration via PlayHQ's Morwell Basketball Association page or the link provided on the Morwell Basketball Associations website.   

Unregistered players will not be permitted to take the court under any circumstances.
