Selection to National Panel, Panels 1, 2 and 3 is decided by the Referee Appointments Committee, on completion of the Panel Application Form. The refereeing pathway is a process which involves completition or working towards Level 2 referee accreditation and may include being a current member of a Development.

An official may be offered a position in one of Basketball SA advanced Referee Development Programs - SRDP (State Referee Development Program) or the National Referee Development Program (NRDP), although being selected on either of these programs does not give you automatic panel status.
