Shooters Basketball Club is a community based, not-for-profit association dedicated to advancing opportunities for participation and development within the sport of basketball in the Alphington/Fairfield (3078) and surrounding areas. Shooters currently fields 30 junior girls and boys teams along with 2 senior teams, with a total of around 250 players, ranging in skill from beginners all the way up to veteran class.

The Shooters Basketball Club is excited to announce the return of Training 1st, our clinic aimed specifically at new comers to the sport of basketball aged between 5 and 9.

Training 1st will be an awesome multi-layered training environment for younger players held at Thornbury High School (enter via Collins St or Matisi St), on each Friday of the school term from 4.00pm to 4.45pm (Note: if final session occurs on last day of school term, the session may start earlier e.g. 3.00pm).

ABOUT THE TRAINING 1st PROGRAM

Conducted by qualified coaches and senior members of the shooters club, Training 1st aims to introduce girls and boys aged between 5 and 9 years to the sport of basketball through structured training sessions covering the basic skills of basketball, with a particular emphasis on team play, ball handling, dribbling and passing skills.

Training 1st will facilitate a fun and progressive environment, encouraging players to learn and perfect skills while helping to build game knowledge through specialised drills focusing on the necessary techniques and fundamentals to be embedded into each player’s game.

Previous basketball or sports experience is not a prerequisite
(children already playing competition in a team are also welcome to enrol)

Cost:	$95 for the full term (9 sessions), or $12 per session Note: Basketball Victoria charges a once-per-term $5 registration fee on top of any Shooters club fees.

^* Occasionally, Thornbury High School gym is unavailable - when this occurs, an alternative venue, time and/or day will be organised.
^** When a session falls on the last day of term, it may start early to align with an early school break up time (e.g. 3.00pm).
