HOT WEATHER ADVICE

The outdoor temperature at 2pm is 38, and expected to rise to 39. Here inside the MFC, it is just 27 degrees thanks to our fans and the removal of the skylights. All games and programs will be on this afternoon, with extra drink breaks added if required. We appreciate that the heat may make access to the stadium tricky for some, so if you can't make it today for your game, please let either your team contact or the stadium know on 49343503.

Maitland Basketball observes Sports medicine Australia's Hot Weather guidelines, as provided by Basketball NSW:

https://www.bnsw.com.au/download/heat-policy/?wpdmdl=4639

According to these guidelines, the current heat risk is moderate, and recommends the reduction of intensity / duration and to take more breaks.  Our program coaches and referees will keep adjust programs accordingly and monitor the conditions and well being of all participants.

The fans are on, we will add extra drink breaks and recommend all participants, as always to bring a water bottle.  In games we also advise taking more regular substitutions to give players regular breaks.  We will also add an extra hydration break to each game.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
