WHO: WANTED under 16’s, 18’s Rep Players in 2011
Only Mustang Representative Players selected in the 2011 under 16’s or 18’s are eligible to apply
WHEN: Wednesdays from 4pm to 5pm
WHAT: You will be under the guidance of Maitland’s Representative Coaches for 30 weeks from the 1st Wednesday in term 1 till the last Wednesday in term 3. You would be required to coach a Biddyball team each Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm.
The “2011 Players as Coaches Scholarship” program is being sponsored by ResCo Services and the Newcastle & Hunter Youth Development Program. Each Player as Coach Scholarship holder will receive a polo shirt which is to be worn when coaching or attending clinics.
The program is based around developing interest and skills in basketball for children 6 to 9 years by including coaching in individual skills and game play. The program offers the opportunity for you as a development coach to gain some skills as coaches and assist the development of our youngest players.
For coaches, in term one, the hour will be made up of 20 minutes of skills coaching led by a representative coach and then 30 minutes of games. You will be assigned a team to coach for the games. This experience will go towards the requirements for you to obtain a Level One Coaching Certificate. To obtain your Level One you must complete 30 hours of coaching. In terms 2 and 3 you will lead your own team through skills coaching and then coach the game.
You will be required complete your Level 0 or Level 1 Coaching Certificate in 2011 with all Level 0 and Level 1 Coaching course costs and manuals paid for under the scholarship. Further, upon completion of the program the scholarship holders will have either $200.00 (Level 0) or $300.00 (Level 1) paid off their 2011 Rep Player Levy.
