MAITLAND BASKETBALL ASSISTING IN FIJI PROGRAM

Maitland Basketball Association were happy to be able to assist Judy Smith from Coffs Harbour with a donation of drink bottles ready to be loaded into boxes heading for Fiji. You will see a number of pairs of shoes in the photo – these (more than 100 pairs!!) have been donated by the Kilsyth Basketball community as part of FIBA Oceania’s “Soul to Sole – from our feet to your heart” program.
I initiated this program earlier this year, which aims to provide slightly used or new basketball shoes to our Pacific Island federations. The Kilsyth shoes will be heading to Tahiti. As you can see from the second attached photo, even at the Solomon Island National Games, there were teams (girls in orange uniforms) without shoes……. Simply amazing.
