Prelim Final
Aussie rules is considered one of the toughest sports in the world and a two day turnaround between games is almost unheard of. However, thanks to the city of Verdun’s lighting problem, that is exactly what is awaiting the Old Montreal Dockers and the West Island Eagles on Tuesday night at Parc de la Verendrye at 8pm. The winning team is going to face the well-rested Laval Bombers wh...o earned their way straight to the Grand Final kicking a bag of goals in the last term to beat the minor premiers by 11 points.
Numerous reports are coming in that Eddie Edis is coming back to Montreal on Tuesday; however it is unclear as of yet what his time of arrival is, or if he will be taking part in the elimination game. The West Island Eagles seemed to have pulled up fairly well after the game, but there is no telling what hidden injuries snuck in during the game. All I know is that they will need to be firing on all cylinders if they stand a chance to beat the Dockers tomorrow night. They managed to control the middle of the ground last game with some inspiring performances from Davidson and Cunningham who dominated the shorthanded Demons. Marc Saint-Germain was phenomenal in front of the goals and Captain Matt Payne played his usual no holds barred game. The Eagles defense will need to hold strong once again as the Old Montreal Dockers have a number of scoring threats… Can they hold strong over 4 quarters?
Word from the Old Montreal Dockers is that Shaughnessy is feeling better but it is still unknown if he will take part in the elimination game tomorrow, we are going to have to wait until the 11th hour to find out. What has been leaked is that the two M’s; Mark and Marco, are going to be back for Dockers as they look to participate in their 2nd straight Grand Final. The Old Montrealers played remarkably well against the Bombers on Sunday and numerous times they were able to outrun them and get some easy points. I expect an epic battle in the middle of the ground as these are probably the best contested teams in the league and in order to win, the Dockers are going to have to win the clearances. Andrada and Duff are going to have to play like there’s no tomorrow and kick it to Campain, Koch or Legault as fast as possible. They showed last game that they have multiple scoring threats and no one can be left alone.
Since the Shady Punter has a horrible record of predicting victors, I will hold off any predictions and say this, I hope that both teams that aren’t playing are going to show up tomorrow in order to both support and lend a hand.
