REGISTRATION NUMBERS AND PLAYING NUMBERS
· Teams may register up to 14 players* (exceptions may be granted)
· 6 players on the field at any one time, with a maximum of 3 males on at any one time for mixed teams.
· For a game to commence, a minimum of 4 players is required (including 1 male for mixed teams).
· All Team Managers are responsible for having their completed Team Registration list handed in to Total Touch, or the On-field Co-ordinator, before week two of the competition.
· Players must play four games for their team to be eligible to participate in semi finals and finals.
UNIFORM
· All players must wear identical coloured shirts. The shirts must have numbers no less than 10cm high on the back. OR a number on both sleeves is also an acceptable option.
· All players must wear shorts that sit above the knees.
· Suitable footwear must be worn. Regulation Touch shoes are recommended.
· No bare feet, spikes, and rugby boots (with removable sprigs) allowed.
· Teams have 2 weeks grace from the first playing night to have regulation shirts, after which teams will forfeit points and/or will not be allowed to take the field. This will be monitored. *An exception may be granted by management but this is not a right.
COMPETITION FORMAT
· Please adhere to the Touch New Zealand 8th Edition rulebook. Base rules will be published on our website www.totaltouch.org.nz under ‘Rules of Touch’.
- There are two rule variations that Total Touch use
- (1) In mixed games, 2 points for a female touchdown
- (2) Women’s teams are entitled to 2 points for a touchdown
- (3) A revised drop off for play-off games (see website for details)
· The season will consist of:
- Round 1 - grading round. Usually 5 weeks but may vary due to team numbers
- Round 2 - competitions round. Usually 7 weeks but may vary due to team numbers
- Semi-finals night. All teams play on this night
- Finals. All teams play on this night
· Game slots will be 40 or 45 minute brackets depending on numbers and daylight. This will include 16-20 minute halves, a 2 minute halftime and a 5 minute break between games.
POINTS SYSTEM
- 3 for a win
- 2 for a draw
- 1 for a loss
- 0 for a default, uniform infringements or outstanding fees
- If at the end of the qualifying round two teams have equal points,
1. the team who beat the other team will be placed ahead.
2. If still undecided the difference between the points scored for and those scored against will be collated and the team with the highest point’s differential will be placed ahead.
3. If still undecided, points scored for will be divided by the points scored against and the team with the highest point’s differential will be placed ahead.
If three or more teams have the same game points, the differential system’s only applies.
In all situations if the result is still a draw after each step has been applied, a toss of the coin will decide.
DEFAULTS
· Defaults are taken serious as this is not fair on the opposition, Referee or On-field Co-ordinator.
· If your team is going to default a game you must give Total Touch at least 24 hours notice.
· A $20 default fee will be imposed on teams that do not give sufficient, or any, notice
· If your team is short of players, Total Touch recommends your team show up for a friendly game. The Module Co-ordinator/Referee will try to help find fill-ins. No team likes showing up to find they have travelled to the park to find no game at all, please be considerate.
· Please note: A team will be considered to have defaulted should they not field a team within the first ten minute period of the game. For every one minute that a team is late, one touchdown will be awarded against that team to a maximum of five touchdowns.
REFEREEING
· Each team will pay their referee $10.00 (remuneration) per game.
· Qualified Touch Referees will be provided.
· The Referee’s decision is binding and final.
· If you are interested in becoming a Referee (great opportunity to gain between $5.00 - $20.00 per game and keep fit), call the Total Touch Officer on (04) 5600374 for more information.
FIRST AID
· The On-field Co-ordinator will have a First Aid Kit for emergencies.
· It is the responsibility of the teams to provide their own strapping tape and Ice Packs.
CANCELLATIONS
· We only cancel if the Council closes the grounds. We do NOT cancel because of cold weather and rain!!!
· For peace of mind we recommend you sign up to our text cancellation system. Log on to www.sportcheck.co.nz to become a member. You will only be text if the game is cancelled (50 cents per text sent). So if there are no cancellations throughout the season, it will cost you nothing for ‘a season’s peace of mind’.
· Alternatively for cancellations check our website www.totaltouch.org.nz or phone our cancellation line 0800-885-824 after 3.00PM. Please do not call before 3.00pm as we will be highly unlikely to give you a definite answer.
· If we are forced to cancel a night’s game, that night’s game may be played on a ‘CATCH UP SUNDAY’. Catch up games will only take place if there has been more than one cancellation. No points will be awarded for cancelled games that are not made up. Always follow the draw dates, as the draw will continue as normal without the cancelled game.
· Catch up Sundays are pencilled for 22nd November, 13th December, 31st January and 7th February
