The 8th Micronesian Games is heading to Pohnpei.
It will be Pohnpei's second time to host the quadrennial event as it also welcomed athletes during the 2002 edition of the Games.

Palau celebrates successful Micronesian Games

The 7th Micronesian Games, the biggest sports event hosted by Palau, have closed.
In a simple ceremony, and with the athletes of the games assembled at the national stadium, Micronesian Games President, Bill Keldermans and Organising Committee chairman, Fank Kyota, spoke of their pride in the contribution of Palau the success of the Games and new era of sportsmanship across Micronesia.

Tennis Play for Saturday and Sunday August 7-8
Tennis play for Friday was cancelled after approximately one hour due to rain. The semifinals and Women's Doubles Finals are now scheduled for Saturday (the former Friday schedule carried over into Saturday).
Finals and Bronze medal matches are therefore scheduled to be held on Sunday at the Airai Tennis Courts.

Third Day of Micronesian Games gets Underway
The third day of full competition in the Micronesian Games is underway in Palau.
At the track six gold medals will be decided, including the blue ribbon 100 metre sprints.
Fans are excited about the prospect of a Guam-Palau men's basketball qualifying showdown, and Palau will also want to consolidate a good opening day on the wrestling mat.

Duo dominates first night of finals at Micronesia Game
At the Micronesia Games in Palau, two outstanding swimming performances have dominated the first night of finals.
Debra Daniel from the Federated States of Micronesia's Pohnpei bagged three individual gold medals - the 100 metres backstroke, 100 metres butterfly, and the 200 metres Individual medley.

More than 1000 competitors are taking part in the Micronesian Games, which get underway in Palau today
Domestic athletes will be joined by sportsmen and women from Guam, the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, the Northern Marianas, and the Federated States of Micronesia.

Palau President opens the 7th Micronesian Games
The president of Palau, Johnson Toribiong, has hailed last night's opening of the 7th Micronesian Games as a significant step in the country's development.
President Toribiong was on hand to welcome the 1,000 athletes who'll will compete in ten days of competition in and around Koror.
