Where it Began
Gary Hydes - Founding Coach 2009-12
Gary was 1 of the 3 original volunteers behind Rollerblaze. Gary was a very enthusiastic coach who also spent many hours, every week, driving to Brisbane to collect basketball chairs which we borrowed when we first started.more
John Stubbs - Volunteer
John joined us in January 2011 and has quickly become a very valuable member of the team. On Thursday nights he helps to set up the score bench, get the chairs out of storage and then he assists with the scoring during the games. Saturday mornings sees John helping some of our junior players with their basic basketball skills. John always has a smile and everyone looks forward to seeing him at basketball. He has recently completed his first aid certificate and also the referees course.more
Dion Reweti - The Chair Man
Dion is one of our strongest supporters - coach, mentor, advisor, and player. Dion and his wife Marijana as owners of Wicked Wheelchairs sponsor Team Wicked in the social competition. His advice and wonderful smile add so much to Rollerblaze.more
Dean Rhodes - First Basketball Chair Donor
Dean donated the very first basketball wheelchair to the Rollerblaze Club in December 2008. He often drives from Brisbane to be our guest coach. Dean is the Assistant Coach with the Queensland Bullets and he played for Rollerblaze in the Exhibition Game for the GC Blaze and the Australia Day Tournament 2010. Dean is also a basketball referee.more
Tige Simmons OAM - London Silver Medallist, Beijing Gold Medallist
Tige has been "with us" since the very beginning of Rollerblaze. In fact he drove down to the coast to help us with some media coverage about two hours before an offical ceremony to farewell the athletes going to Beijing in 2008. Tige holds a gold medal from the 2008 Beijing Games and silver medal from 2012 London Games.more
