Liam started playing Wheelchair basketball, as a founding member, in a tiny little rainbow coloured chair that we borrowed from some friends, at the newly formed Toowoomba Bushranges training day. He was not quite 5 years old at the time. Liam played in this chair every week and quickly developed a love for the game.

I remember the bigger players and coach Gordan Bartle slowing the game right down and encouraging him all the way to the end of the court to have a shot at the hoop. It’s all Liam would talk about for days after training. “Mum, did you see this or that?” This level of support was shown to Liam time and again throughout his 14 years in the sport. As his abilities grew, he attended training camps, had one on ones with International level players and played for Queensland for a number of years. He also travelled to the Gold Coast to play and train with the Rollerblaze. Always coming home exhausted but totally enthused about the mateship he formed with a great bunch of people.

After Liam passed on the 7th December 2018, I had some lovely local friends help me make the patch and sew it on. Then I sent it to the Gold Coast Rollerblaze Wheelchair Basketball Club who restored this chair as it had sat unused for a while due to Liam's poor health etc. I know that Liam would be stoked to see it looking ready to go again and just as happy to have a new up and comer in the seat being given the opportunity to have a go at the sport he was so passionate about throughout his teens.

Myself, Kel, Gus and all of Liams family are very humbled to be able to be able to give a little back to the sport as small portion of what it has given our beautiful young man. Liam we love and miss you every second of every day.
