Wheelchairs to spend a working day in a wheelchair at the Ashmore offices of GOLDOC.  At their team meeting in early July many of the staff shared their experiences and the difficulties they had faced negotiating a normal working day.

The staff also chose to turn this experience into a fund raising event for Gold Coast Rollerblaze Wheelchair Basketball - by paying for their day in a wheelchair and also encouraging their co-workers to contirubte to the cause.

On Saturday 30 July eight staff from GOLDOC including Mark Peters, took the quest to understand accessibility to a higher level by playing wheelchair basketball with Rollerblaze players at Carrara Stadium.

Before the games began they presented a cheque for $2412.05 to Anna Louise Kassulke, Manager of Gold Coast Recreation & Sport Inc - this was the amount they had raised for Rollerblze during their office-based challenge.

With two GOLDOC players on each of the four teams the competition proved to be tight with the Lions Team taking the unique wheel trophy back to the office as a momento and also a reminder of the importance of accessibility awareness.

A "Stack of the Day Trophy" was awarded to a GOLDOC player who managed to crash into the score bench, senidng water, first aid and scorers flying, yelling "I think I saved it".   Referees on the day awarded two MVP awards to Terrence and Simon.

CEO Mark Peters mentioned that a rematch was a distinct possibility.....
