In the preliminary games the Brisbane Eagles narrowly defeated the Browns Plains Lions by 1 point (27-26) - such an exciting game and Townsville Streaks defeated Southport Wicked by 4 points (36-32).

All four teams had their own "mascot" for the day and the antics of the mascots provided great court side entertainment.

Nerang Highland Park Lions, constant supporters of Rollerblaze, catered for lunch for everyone at the end of the morning.
