Storm Weekly Wrap! (Friday 12th June)

Storm Representative Program

Weekly Summary: Friday 12th June 2009

Welcome to our weekly wrap of the Storm Representative Program.

Under 12 Girls

Score: Bellarine 20 lost to Diamond Valley 25
Top Scorers: Hannah Barakat (7pts), Madeline Hinkley (5pts), Eliesha Montgomery (4pts each)

Game Report: The girls played a great game but were not their usual selves, as unfortunately some were still not well and most still recovering from Ballarat, so this contributed to Diamond Valley taking the win. However Diamond Valley held a very tight defence and made us work hard for our 20 points.

Ladder position after Rd 10: 6th (5-5)

Next Week: Friday 19th June: Bellarine vs. Sunshine – at Bellarine Sports Centre (7.20pm)

Under 12 Boys

Score: Bellarine 39 defeated Diamond Valley 33

Top Scorers: Seb Thomason (12pts), Mitchell Peers & Lloyd Cook (9pts each)

MVP: Seb Thomason – A great all round game by Seb, who ran hard up & down the court and found avenues to score through tight traffic.

Game Report: After a great tournament at Ballarat, the boys started slowly, which saw the home team Diamond Valley dictating terms in the first half and taking a 7point lead into the main break.  After a rev up, the storm boys came out firing. They started to rebound and put real defensive pressure on the opposition, which was reflected on the score board by a 13 point turnaround at the final siren.  It was pleasing to see the scoring was evenly spread amongst the whole team, and Mitchell Peers was again unstoppable on the rebounds, finishing with 13 for the game.

Ladder position after Rd 10: 2nd (8-1-1)

Next Week: Friday 19th June: Bellarine vs. Whittlesea - at Mill Park (7.40pm)

Under 20 Girls

Score: Bellarine 75 defeated Whittlesea 25

Top Scorers: Rachel Alldis (21pts), Meagan Stuart (19pts), Megan Van Zyl (10pts)

MVP: Another complete Team Effort

Game Report:  Whittlesea beat us by 32 points in round 4, so to return the favor to the tune of 50 points was very satisfying.  Every player contributed, from Rachel and Meagan’s awesome offensive effort to Megan’s superb all round game and leadership. Throw in the great job done by our bigs, Emma and Jennah on the mountain of a centre the pacers had, Roz’s stunning jump shooting display and Cassie’s defensive domination (combined with 13 rebounds), we honestly did play a perfect game.  The monkey is off our backs now and we turn our attention to next weeks game. Nunawading will be a much harder opponent, but we will continue to set small goals and we are just beginning to show what we can do as a team. Despite some unsportsmanlike play from Whittlesea the lady storm kept to the task and showed just how much class they have, The rep program should be very proud of the way the team performed both on and off the court. And how did we do it? We did it together.  Bob Parker (Coach)

Ladder position after Rd 10: 8th (2-7)

Next Week: Friday 19th June: Bellarine vs. Nunawading – at Forest Hill (8.00pm)
