Game summary: The first quarter was a defensive one resulting in low scoring, so Coach Matthews set the girls an offensive task of 15 points per quarter, whilst maintaining a strong defence. In the second quarter, the girls pushed their score from seven points to 31 and continued their strong defence. The guards at the front of the press scored repeatedly from steals, whilst the talls dominated the boards, with over 30 rebounds for the game. With just seven players, it was a well earnt win and a positive start to the season

Under 14 (2) Girls

Bellarine Storm 2 (48) defeated Sunbury 2 (26)

Best Players: Vanessa Marsh, Zoe Saunders

Top Scorers: Vanessa Marsh (21), Zoe Saunders (9) and Jaimee Crombie (6)

Game summary: Bellarine leapt from the blocks at the start of the game scoring five unanswered baskets in the first few minutes. A very fast paced game dominated by Bellarine’s offense with Vanessa Marsh scoring consistently from countless turn-overs. Well executed set plays and constant bench rotation ensured another confident win to Eric and the girls.

Best Players: Mike Mortimer, Lachlan Potter and Sam Anderson

Game summary: Fantastic team effort, all put in 100%

Under 14 (3) Boys

Bellarine Storm 3 (53) defeated Wallan (51)

Best Players: Riley Coghlan, Isaac Scerri, Ryson McHenry

Top Scorers: Jeb Taylor-Hewson, Riley Coghlan & Ryson McHenry

Game summary: With a total of 104 points shot for the game, this was reflective of a fast paced game with both team’s offense working well. Bellarine trailed Wallan in the first half of the game. Our team’s defensive skills improved in the after the half-time break, causing turnovers and making fantastic interceptions to gain an advantage in the second half. Accurate shooting and continued high pressure brought about a close and exciting hard fought win by the Bellarine team.

Game Summary: Fantastic team effort, all put in 100%. It was a hard game but they fought it out right to the end.
