Welcome to our weekly wrap of the Storm Representative Program.

Under 12 Girls

Score: Bellarine 18 lost to Geelong 36
Top Scorers: Hannah Barakat (9pts), Madeline Hinkley (4pts), Emily Baker (3pts),

Game Report: It was a tough game, but all the girls fought hard against the undefeated Geelong side.

Ladder position after Rd 7: 5th (4-3)

Next Week: Friday 29th May: Bellarine vs. Keilor – at Bellarine Sports Centre (7.20pm)

Under 12 Boys

Score: Bellarine 33 defeated Corio Bay 24

Top Scorers: Seb Thomason (8pts), Kyle Meyer (7pts), Kye Baulch & Lachlan Campbell (6pts),

MVP: Kyle Meyer – In a scrappy game by both sides, Kyle (a first year Storm player) stepped up his running game, playing well up and down the court, scoring 7 points in the process.  Well done Kyle, keep the intensity going!

Game Report: It was a tight tussle between both sides, causing plenty of turnovers and opportunities to score.  With some of the older boys accumulating excessive fouls in traffic, a number of the newer players such as Kyle, Marcus and Brady stepped up their work rate and contributed to a good storm win.  Well done boys.

Ladder position after Rd 7: 1st (7-0)

Next Week: Friday 22nd May: Bellarine vs. – Keilor 2 at Keilor (6.40pm)

Under 14 (A) Girls

Score: Bellarine 45 lost to Knox 49

Top Scorers: Bree Matthews (19pts), Alice Teague-Neeld (8pts), Lauren Moloney & Jess Christiaans (5pts)

Game Report: Once again Storm came out of the blocks flying with an early 18 point lead  but unfortunatly we were un able to maintain our intensity for the whole game. Our first and last quarters were fantastic but in between we struggled to score against Knox’s aggressive full court man defense.

But as far as losses go it was a positive loss showing that we have improved since our first game when we went down by 16 points (our biggest loss this season).

We will look forward to next weeks big game against basketball power house Melbourne Tigers

Ladder position after Rd 10: 4th (5-5)

Next Week: Friday 22nd May: Bellarine vs. Melbourne – at Bellarine Sports Centre (8.20pm)

Under 16 Girls

Score: Bellarine 34 defeated Diamond Valley 4 33

Top Scorers: Laura Ellis (14pts), Hayley Bodrogkozy (7pts), Caidie Swayn (6pts)

MVP: Laura Ellis - An excellent effort all night by Laura. Played strong defensive and did not pick up any cheap fouls. Also was able to score freely when driving to the basket. Also an excellent effort by Caidie Swayn, who’s pressure on the defensive end provided several opportunities for fast breaks.

Game Report:  A shocking start to the match by the girls, letting Diamond Valley sprint out to a 12 point lead after only 9 minutes. Greater defensive pressure and more accurate passing brought the girls back into the game, trailing by only 2 points at half time. The Storm girls started the second half on fire and took a 6 point lead with only 9 minutes to go. Diamond Valley continued to pounce on any mistakes and again took the lead with 2 minutes remaining. Some clutch baskets at the end saw Storm prevail by the barest of margins.

Defensive pressure by girls was great for most the night, we are slowly working towards a full 40 minute effort.

Ladder position after Rd 7: 5th (4-3)

Next Week: Friday 22nd May: Bellarine vs. Sunshine – at Bellarine Sports Centre (8.40pm)
