Under 12 (2) Boys

Bellarine Storm 2 (27) defeated Werribee 3 (26)

Best Players: Kai Keenan and Sam Briggs

Top Scorers: Sam Briggs (8 pts)

Game summary: Bellarine won their second game in a row with a nail biting one-point win against Werribee.  The boys are showing a greater level of aggression towards the ball and have gained an improved confidence.  This has transferred into their passing and defence.  A special highlight on Friday night was the domination they showed on the boards.  The boys do need to learn to hold the ball when they are in the lead in the last minute, but this will improve with experience.  It is great to see the improvement the boys have made in recent weeks and it is really starting to click.

Next Week: Bellarine 2 v Melton 2 at 6.40pm @ Melton

Under 14 (1) Girls

Bellarine Storm 1 (71) defeated Latrobe (40)

Best Players: Eve Braslis (10 pts, 16 rebounds, 8 steals), Raini Matthews (18pts, 4 assists) Holly Milsome (15pts, 6 rebounds) and Teagan Tatlock (14pts)

Top Scorers: Raini Matthews (18pts), Holly Milsome (15pts) and Teagan Tatlock (14pts)

Game summary: The tone of the game was set initially by Latrobe, scoring a couple of quick goals.  After an early time out for Storm, Coach Matthews reminded the girls to play their game at the speed and style they enjoy so much.  After which, the Storm girls regained control of the game and did not look back, despite some foul trouble in the second half.  They ran their offences diligently, were disciplined and relentless in their defence and were happy with the win.

Next Week: Bellarine 1 v Bulleen 2 at 8.20 @ Bulleen

Under 14 (2) Boys

Best Players: Hamish Goodier, Charlie McEvoy, Tom Ness and Kai Murphy

Top Scorers: Hamish Goodier (21pts), Charlie McEvoy (4pts), Sam Anderson (4pts) and Kai Murphy (4pts)

Game summary: Great game of basketball from all the boys.  Our defence was really solid all night, with minimum turn-overs and strong rebounding we kept our lead and won the game.

Next Week: Bellarine 2 v Broadmeadows 2 at 7.40 @ Broadmeadows

Under 14 (3) Boys

Bellarine Storm 3 (33) defeated Broadmeadows (24)

Best Players: Jackson Smith, Ryson McHenry and Aidan McKenzie

Top Scorers: Riley Coghlan, Jackson Smith and Isaac Scerri

Game summary: Although Bellarine led throughout the game, it remained a close contest until the final siren.  Broadmeadows showed a strong defence and forced Bellarine to work hard for each of their baskets.  Bellarine struggled offensively in the first half of the game, but managed to work as a team under pressure and persisted with their efforts coming away with a nine-point lead.

Next week Bellarine 3 and Collingwood 3, whom are both undefeated teams, play for top spot on the ladder and we are looking forward to the challenge.

Next Week: Bellarine 3 v Collingwood 3 at 8.40 @ Melbourne Girls College

Top Scorers: D Spence (17pts), K Wilson (15pts), J McDonald-Mayne (10pts) and P Goodier (10pts)

Game summary: This game was the best effort the boys have achieved so far this year, they showed great offensive and defensive skills and took the game out of the opponents’ hands.  A great job all round.
