Bellarine Storm – VJBL Wrap

Friday 22nd March 2013

Under 12 Girls

Bellarine Storm (19) defeated by Bulleen (25)

Best Players: Tessa Longden, Sophie Milsome and Mieke Tatlock

Top Scorers: Sophie Milsome (8), Alaina Peacock (5) and Tessa Longden (4)

Game summary: Had another great start to the game, breaking out to an early lead of 7 - 0. This was due to some strong defensive work, putting enormous pressure on the opposition. Bulleen hit back with pressure of their own in the second quarter and we unfortunately let them back into the game. The game then became a very even contest, with both teams attacking well. Bulleen though, were just the better team on the night and ran away with the game.

Under 12 (2) Boys

Bellarine Storm 2 (13) defeated by Craigieburn 3 (23)

Best Players: Harry Edwards and Kai Keenan

Top Scorers: Harry Edwards (4)

Game summary: The first half started evenly with both teams trading baskets. The boys were playing disciplined defence stoping Craigieburn from driving and forcing them to take low percentage shots from the outside. The third quarter saw Craigieburn slip away to a lead of ten points through some unforced errors. These errors will reduce the more the boys train and play together and their confidence improves. It is pleasing to see how the boys passing has improved and they are now looking to pass to teammate in a better position.

Top Scorers: Holly Milsome (18pts) and Raini Matthews (5pts)

Game summary: Friday’s game was a struggle for our U14 girls for the first three quarters, with missed shots and foul woes. The fourth quarter saw a return to form as the girls worked hard to close the deficit. Knox proved a worth opponent once again.
