Storm Weekly Wrap! (Friday 15th May)

Storm Representative Program

Weekly Summary: Friday 15th May 2009

Welcome to our weekly wrap of the Storm Representative Program.

Under 12 Girls

Score: Bellarine 20 lost to Hawthorn 41
Top Scorers: Hannah Barakat (11pts), Elie Montgomery (4pts), Madeline Hinkley (3pts)

Game Report: Our usually fit and healthy team of 7 was reduced to 5 not so fit and healthy girls.  Despite the odds stacked against us, the girls did not stop trying.  Looking forward to meeting Geelong next week!

Ladder position after Rd 6: 5th (4-2)

Next Week: Friday 22nd May: Bellarine vs. Geelong - at Geelong Arena (7.30pm)

Under 12 Boys

Score: Bellarine 32 defeated Hawthorn 3 19

Top Scorers: Mitchell Peers (14pts), Seb Thomason (8pts), Kye Baulch (5pts),

MVP: Mitchell Peers - Mitch played a great all round game, both defensively and in attack with 9 rebounds and 14 points.

Game Report: The game started slowly before the Storm boys made their presence felt by working in defense very hard, causing the turnovers and putting points on the score board.  Michael Parker was also strong on the boards finishing with 9 for the game.

Ladder position after Rd 6: 1st (6-0)

Next Week: Friday 22nd May: Bellarine vs. Hawthorn 3 - at Bellarine Sports Centre (7.40pm)

Under 14 (A) Girls

Score: Bellarine 47 lost to Ballarat 52

Top Scorers: Bree Matthews (15pts), Lauren Moloney (9pts), Alice Teague-Neeld (8pts), Molly Babb (8pts)

Game Report: Yes we drove all the way to Bendigo and then drove that long drive home with a loss.  The game we should have won that we are still kicking ourselves about.  We will take a lot out of that loss and learn a lot from Bendigo's "D" also.  We will close out on perimeter shooters and roll off screens too.

At the half way mark we sit in 5th position and should still be 4th or maybe 3rd, but at the start of the season If you said we would be 5th I would be rapt and I still am.  Very proud of the girls efforts up to this point and hopefully we keep improving in the second half. Brendon (Coach)

Ladder position after Rd 9: 5th (5-4)

Next Week: Friday 22nd May: Bellarine vs. Knox - at Knox (8.20pm)

Under 14 (B) Girls

Score: Bellarine 18 lost to Wallan 34

Top Scorers: Allison Marsh (8pts), Abbey Newton (5pts), Finlay Neal (3pts)

Game Report: This week it was off to Wallan.  The girls were asleep for the first ten minutes and struggled with their man to man defence, so we switched to a zone and Wallan struggled to score.  Once the girls woke up they played really well and clawed back to within ten points.  Once again I was extremely proud of the girls as they never dropped their heads and never gave up.

Ladder position after Rd 6: 3rd (3-2)

Next Week: Friday 22nd May: Bellarine vs. Corio Bay - at Life Be In It Centre (8.40pm)

Under 16 Girls

Score: Bellarine 31 lost to Keilor 33

Top Scorers: Hayley Bodrogkozy (13pts), Laura Ellis (7pts)

MVP: Hayley Bodrogkozy - Scored 10 points in the first half to keep us in the game. Drove hard all night and kept things tight on the defensive end.

Game Report:  A disappointing night for the girls, going down by two points. Unfortunately poor rebounding and sloopy turnovers cost us dearly on the night. Great efforts from Hayley and an ill Laura almost got us over the line. An important game for us this Friday against Diamond Valley, which will determine whether we stay in contention for a finals spot.

Ladder position after Rd 6:

Next Week: Friday 22nd May: Bellarine vs. Diamond Valley 4 - at Darebin (7.40pm)
