Under 14 Boys (1) (Practice match)

Bellarine 50 lost to Werribee 53

Best Players: W. Jordan, R. Coghlan, H. Goodier

Top Scorers: H. Goodier, T. Ness, R. Coghlan

Game summary: This was the last of our practice games before the season starts next week. After a slowish start we edged our way in front of Werribee and stayed there for the majority of the game. The last quarter saw Werribee come out a bit stronger and took the lead and got out to a nine-point break. We fought back well to go down by three points in a game that could have been won. We have had four practice games to try and get used to the pace of VC and we have improved each week, but this game does show you can’t relax for any minutes when playing at the highest level of basketball the state has to offer.

Under 14 Boys (3)

Bellarine 40 defeated Craigieburn (4) 22

Game summary: After a great start by Ethan Keenan, the boys settled in to playing some good basketball. Boys need to work on improving our overall shooting percentage next week.

Under 16 Boys (1)

Bellarine 36 defeated Bulleen (2) 27

Under 16 Boys (2)

Bellarine 73 defeated Whittlesea (4) 30

Best Players: C.Whelan, D.Perkins, K.Murphy, D.Gibson

Top Scorers: C Whelan 44, D.Perkins 11, K Murphy 8

Game summary: Bellarine put together a strong performance from start to finish to convincingly beat Whittlesea.  All players contributed during the game with Declan Gibson leading the way early with his strong rebounding. Clancy Whelan continued his good form on offense and had a season high 44 points. Defensive pressure was also good which allowed Bellarine to control much of the game.  Dale Perkins and Kai Murphy chipped in with some good offensive scoring to ensure the game was out of reached.  Overall a very pleasing win with all boys playing their role and contributing on the night.  The team will hopefully welcome back Lachie Hart from injury next week.
